You know what I learned about Australia today?

The venom from this

is entirely different than the kind of venom you'd normally associate with our local spiders and snakes. Instead of incapacitation to make it easier to consume, it's all about the PAIN. A pain so severe that even high doses of morphine are ineffective and the only easy way to treat it is a chemically induced coma to let the venom pass naturally.

And you wouldn't have the slightest idea if you decided to handle one of the cute little bastards surreal

I'm kind of annoyed at Tee for blurting this out in public, TBH. We don't need to be scaring off the tourists.

Dingoes are cool enough, they're looking good enough since the floods of the past couple of years.

It's the bloody taipans (inland variety) which are a bit keen at the moment cos the rats and mice have gone ballistic up here.

Also the mice spiders are out and about, bugs are pretty keen until the first real colds set in. Had only one night below 0 so far. Those suckers were created when god did some seriously bad acid!

And the rig cook's name is .... Bruce!!

We had platypus in the river at our place until the dickheads across the river poisoned the willows on the advice of the government. I haven't seen one since.
