I'm flying to Vegas on my 21st birthday, and I've obviously never been of legal age to do anything fun there. I went once when I was around 15 or so, so I think I missed the whole point of going to Vegas.
All I know right now is that I leave June 20th, and fly back home on the 23rd...all I have is my plane ticket and that's about it. The person who got me the ticket is getting a hotel somewhere there, but he hasn't really told me which one.
Anyways...is there anything I should not miss when I go there? Whether it may seem like some place stupid...I'm open to all ideas since I know nothing about the place except I will be gambling and killing my liver.
I like the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay. For cheaper gambling, stay off the strip. There is some cheaper gambling on Freemont Street (aka the old strip), otherwise hit the casinos off the strip.

All the free shows in front of some of the casino's...like the water fountain show at Belagio.
Punk rock mostly. Just don't sit on the couches; you really don't want to think about what's happened on those things.
There's a few other bars to hit: Freakin' Frog has one of the best beer selections of any bar in the country. Crown & Anchor is a fairly good British pub.
tuffy got it.
get Ass Juice and a bacon martini at double down.
and deep fried twinkies and oreos at Mermaids downtown. I also always get a yard of nasty everclear slush there.
If you want to gamble, go learn to play craps. It's loud and fun. And Casino Royale has 100x odds. oh boy!
and if you wanna see a show, O is fucking amazing.
Why have I heard of these infamous bacon martinis before...? Hahaha. I love my bacon...but that just seems like two things that shouldn't be put together.
If you're a cigar fan, stop by Casa Fuente in the Forum Shops. Only place in the world you can get a Casa Fuente cigar. The Mojitos there are pretty damn good too.
The strip is pretty exciting your first time. Take a camera and take lots of pictures at night. It looks awesome.
If you are going to pick one night to have a really nice meal - you gotta go to the Voodoo Lounge at the top of the Rio hotel. It's not on the strip but the restaurant fucking rocks. They have a live performer (we saw Prince there) in a really intimate setting every night.
I typically prefer to stay at the Rio because it's all suites (I get claustrophobic in tiny rooms) and I dig the Mardi Gras theme of the place. I play mostly 21 at both the Rio and also at a complete shithole - the Tropicana on the strip. For some reason, I always come out way ahead at the Tropicana and just a little ahead at the Rio.
If money is tight (or you spend too much) but still want entertainment...just go on one of those lame ass time share presentations (every hotel has fliers/brochures for them). You will spend waste a couple of hours out of your day..but you will end up with show tickets or whatever is being offered. It will say what you get on the ad. The presentation WILL be stupid but you will be able to laugh at it with your friends later. Seriously, everyone should experience a time share presentation at least once in their life.
You gotta go to Old Vegas and watch a bum smoke crack or shoot heron while you got the chance. That will do two things for you. One, you'll have a new perspective on life and where it will lead if you make stupid choices. Two, you just made yourself a hook up while in Vegas. If you need drugs, he'll damn sure know where some are.
If you have access to a car check out hoover dam, it's a pretty neat engineering achievement.
Both what Tuff said and "Old Strip" are good times but I would say Old Strip is more fun during mid-day. The coutesy drinks are stronger to cater to the crowds of annoying parents and daywalkers. At night make sure you hit up a free show or two. (The visitor center usually has discount tickets mid-week for big performances) In the morning you should try one of the godlike buffets. You will be full all day while you drink. In the evening at least once I would go to Dick's Last Resort. Great and fun place to drink and eat (I think it's in Camelot now) You can buy a "Big Ass Beer Glass" for cheaper than most restaurants normal beer in that area and keep the fucking glass for later drinking in excess. Just be sure to stay on the beaten path. Off-strip shit late night can get pretty hectic unless you are with some locals. Vegas will fucking own you. Have fun!
Never stay longer than three days. Never gamble more than you would on any night drinking... drinks are free in most casinos as long as you are gambling. TIP TIP TIP the cocktail waitress or that one drink will be the last you will ever see! All those books about strategies and techniques that are guaranteed to beat the odds ARE BULLSHIT!!! If these strategies actually worked then these motherfuckers wouldn't have to write a god damned book about it. You learn by playing the games , don't be shy, there are plenty of people that will tell you the rules. make it a point to get up and cruise the floor every 15 minutes. Don't give it all up at one place. REMEMBER: you are there to have fun and be entertained NOT to make a fortune.
1 dollar blackjack at the SAHARA. The Rio has an awesome buffet. And the Venus pool at Caesar's palace is topless (WOO HOO!)
