What's it like?

EDIT: I'm referring to the city, not the whole state. Although the city is actually in that state...wibble.

Long walks on the beach and candlelit dinners. And hair chests. At least according to its eHarmony profile.

a reason why my father loves to visit this city.

I like new york ( only been there twice though) but for some reason I prefer other cities in the states.

E.B. White's Here is New York sums up the city pretty spectacularly.

if you visit the amazon.com page here you can "look inside" the book and read the first couple pages.

Thanks. It's an interesting read...I'll have to see if I can find the book in my local library.

More like how far we've fallen, amirite?

I for one would like to see NYC reinstate the costumed "armies of the night."

Well, I did stop by Fangoria's weekend of horror convention today and it wasn't far off. Different kind of costumes though. tongue

New Years Eve at Times Square and peeing in the middle of the crowd (thank goodness for long leather coats) and a bodyguard as a husband because
1. You cannot leave your spot the crowd is so large your spot will be gone
2. No establishment will let you use the bathroom unless your a guest
3. The lines are so long once you find a place that some of the girls are peeing in the sinks or going into the mens room.
4. There are no bottles wide enough to properly pee in (unless your a guy of course) wink

O/W everyone has to do it at least ONCE! biggrin we did it twice and got it out of our systems although it was more difficult to smuggle a backpack full of beer the second time due to heavy security after 911.

New Year's Eve in Times Square & crowds in general have to be my least favorite things about NYC, but you can avoid both altogether even living in NYC as I have most of my life.

yeah, there are lots of trees, especially in Brooklyn!

Warriors makes me nostalgic for 70s New York, but it's changed a lot since then.
