Come out, please. I'm really starting to be afraid that the only people who live near me are hillbillies. I get along quite well with said hillbillies, but I need other kinds of people, too.

I wouldn't call myself a lurker, I just don't have much to say. I mean hell people who have been here a lot less time than myself have already trippled my post count. eeek

Sorry, this was actually a reaction to a search for members within 50 miles of me. Three of them have made comments. The rest lurk. Please start talking, people!

I get along with them too, but I'm probably a minority in that. Of course I come from a long, distinguished line of rednecks. tongue

So does NC count as 'close enough' for lurkers? I think I've been to Front Royal on at least 2 occassions but I cant remember anything about the town. Once was when we were backpacking up in the Shanondoas and the other I was with my girlfriend (now ex) doing the B&B fall weekend. I think we stayed in Stanchon???

Are you far from DC? I live in Durham, NC...

Hey Durham isnt too bad. Not as cool as Portland of course, but not as bad as most people think. Its a liberal/progressive town and is close to Chapel Hill.

We don't all lurk, some of us just browse about and read others journals. Oh, that is lurking??? My apologies, I'd better get back to it. biggrin

I wouldn't consider that lurking at all. The majority of members who turn up in a 50 mile search from my zip code filled out public profiles, but never wrote a journal or made a comment anywhere. That's a lurker. Why would you bother making a profile if you're not planning to participate at all? Come out, there are lots of great people here.

Never move to Virginia?!?!? Why, I would have to say that VA is one of the best state in this great nation of ours, good sir!

How could you pass up eating great food in old town Charlottesville, or jumping off dams into water filled quarries in Harrisonburg, or getting homemade apple butter from the Lion's Club in Stephens City?

Of course, I am a little biased.

PS - I guess my 100th comment moves me from lurker to selective poster.

i have close friends in front royal and just outside of warrenton. im down there pretty often to shoot guns, drink whiskey, play hillbilly music... general catching up activities.

in fact, there is an unoocupied cabin in front royal that im dying to get to for a week or so just to get some peace and quiet. lots of books and records and instruments and the such just collecting dust...

Hillbilly music is one thing I figured folks do right out here. But I haven't seen it yet.
