cheap, dirty hotel - sf

i need some recommedations for a cheap and dirty hotel/motel in the sf-oakland area.

now, i dont mean the worse of the worse. i want the place to be somewhat safe. nothing in really horrible neighborhoods as well. just something old, cheap, and has its own unique flavor.

so if any of you kids have any experience let me know, and help me fulfill my deep dark dirty secrets.

It wasnt cheap, but The Phoenix Hotel is unique..the rooms were...ummm..bright...

that hotel looks neet. but i need a slutty hotel.

and i want to spend as little money as possible. maybe a hotle that rents by the hour?

Is the Zeitgeist stil a "hotel" or are they residences now?

The Trav-L-odge on Valencia & Market is pretty cheap and centrally located

Then there's the one on Post and Polk where all the strippers stay - can't remember the name off hand - any help Dia?

The Phoenix is my favourite hotel in San Francisco but it definitely isn't dirty or all that cheap.

I did stay at a place right near the Metreon that is called the Mosser Victorian. It is fairly cheap ($50-60/night) with shared bathrooms, small rooms, very old and verging on dirty. But I never felt unsafe there.
