I found it on a site dedicated to swear words and phrases in different languages years ago (the site no longer exists, to my knowledge). I believe it is Kurdish for "just die" or something along those lines. If anyone knows the actual meaning, feel free to tell me, but Ive just come to love the word regardless of its meaning.
Well I get called Stavros because of my obvious Greek/Cypriot looks. Na I get called it because my names Steve and Hill because it's my last name. StavrosHill, a little bit more unique to an extent than just SteveHill I guess...

So I was just wondering what does some of your "names" mean to you? Is it the first thing you thought of? Or is it what tells others about who or what you are?

Where I grew up in Canada my friends and I would call taking a hit of weed "taking a hoot". I always thought taking a hit sounded to harsh for weed. After moving to Califronia and smoking with friends here, they were always entertained whenever I would ask "if I could have a hoot" or "thanks for the hoots".......soon that was my nick name and now I find myself using it for everything haha
Originally I figured the opposite of an infiltrator, getting out of a scene instead of in, but I think I use it now as letting my guard down, unfiltering. Sometimes I think it also sounds like I might be "outing" people which is not cool. I might change it eventually.
My name came from the failed negotiators of a peace during the Balkan Conflict. Vance and Owen were a couple of Brits who unwittingly lengthened the war and increased the level of casualties. HVO units joked that their units were Havala Vance Owen. I was there.
