So I was just wondering what does some of your "names" mean to you? Is it the first thing you thought of? Or is it what tells others about who or what you are?

No, not really.

Mine is from an author that I like.

Mine is from the Slowdive songs Avalyn and Avalyn II. The former has only one verse of lyrics spread out over about five minutes, the latter removes the lyrics entirely, as it's just kind of an ambient remix. They are both among my favourite songs ever.

The lyrics (which sum up my life pretty well):

I'm here on my own

Here's an mp3 of the song. It's only 128K/s, but the song is pretty rare and you'd have to search pretty hard to find a better copy.

Years ago, I went by 'rattfink' -
but people online must have thought no girl would ever go by that name -
because people wouldn't believe that I wasn't a boy...
so I added 'pink' because it sounds girlish.

Mine is the name of an album by a band called "smile" . I was trying to figure out a screename to use for my account when I got AOL for the first time about 7 years ago or something , and after a number of " thatname is already taken , try this . . . . " I looked over and saw the C.D. laying there and thought " okay that is a wierd word , noone could have that as a name . . . " and hence it was to be . you should give it a listen BTW , pretty good stuff
