I'm flying into Sydney in February, and I may be staying for as long as a year. I've got a working holiday visa, and some good job connections, but what I'm lacking in is personal connections, and good advice on things to see and do while I'm there. Any comments or suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks. smile

No reason. In fact I already applied. I just thought I'd try to get the ball rolling though. So far it hasn't worked as well as one might hope. blackeyed

Australians tend to be very friendly and laid-back. I'm sure you'll have your personal connections in no time.

If things work out, I will be in Canberra in February.

Do you have a plan for while you're there, or are you just gonna wing it?

I don't understand that expression. I feel like Borat now.

It's going to be a work visit. The people I am visiting would like to hire me, but can't. The guy who could hire me and said he might doesn't move. I'm hoping that when I'm there and talk to him in person things might progress faster. In which case I might essentially just come back here to get my stuff together and then move. smile

To wing it means to proceed without a plan, to improvise.
That sounds like a better plan to find a job than I have right now. I have a few contacts but nothing definite yet. One of them is in Canberra so you and I might find ourselves in the same city.
