To those people, I have this to say- if you get pissed off or sad from reading something on a message board on the internet, you have some bigger problems to address than something I said.

No, I don't feel clever. I'll take amusement in someone else's stupidity, sure, but I never feel clever about it. Picking a lock or dismantling a nuclear bomb would make me feel clever.

It's like this (and no, I'm not using the bar analogy, because apparently that's not sticking anymore).

Let's say you're walking down the street. You see some guy (or hell, even some gal) harassing the cute girl at the bus stop, asking to see her tits, asking if she shaves her pussy, etc., etc.

Say you walk a bit further, and see some clown standing on a street corner screaming at the top of his lungs about how his opinion on the Iraq War is fact, and that anyone who disagrees should be shot.

Say you walk farther, and run into a group of people, all of them screaming "LOOK AT ME!" while vainly trying to get some sort of validation in their sad, pathetic lives from you.

Or maybe you keep going to the cafe, and someone at another table starts up a conversation with you. However, this person doesn't offer any original thoughts themselves, but just says, "I agree" a lot.

Now, while none of these things may be against the law, they sure are fucking irritating, aren't they? Since they're not against the law, you can't really do much about it. Except mock these people as the sad examples of humanity they are. Wouldn't you agree that stupidity should be reduced as much as possible? How about unwarranted sexual advances? Shouldn't we try to shame these perverted fucks into shutting their mouths (and zippers)? Conversely, attention whoring- shouldn't we ignore those kind of people?

In short- there's not much else we can do when we see someone that isn't really breaking the rules, but coming close- and it doesn't seem to make much difference whether we say "hey, cut it out" or make fun of that person, because people are going to do what they want to do, ultimately.

So really, why not? Besides, if you hadn't noticed, we're pretty good at it.
