Howdy, Since I joined I have generally viewed the galleries of the models via HTML gallery but I'm finding it impossible now because the pictures are too big and most of the pics I can only see a small portion of the pic with the model no where to be seen except for a portion of her head or foot. Most times I can't see the model at all. This started happening with the July 19 2012 gallery of Lottey and has been the case with the galleries after July 19 2012. All galleries earlier than this date, I have no problem viewing via HTML Gallery, which tells me that somehow pictures being uploaded after July 19, 2012 are much bigger and the HTML Gallery feature is unable to handle the big picture sizes. Based on the fact that I can view any gallery via HTML before July 19, 2012 just fine, tells me it's an SG website issue. I can use flash gallery but I've always found the flash gallery too slow. Anyone else have this issue? I use Firefox, have cleared my cache and have cookies enabled. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Are you using a desktop / laptop computer, a tablet, or a phone? Are you viewing the regular site or the mobile site? What's your operating system?

Answering those questions might help a bit but I just checked and pics seem to be 1200 pixels wide even before that date so the pics themselves are the same size so I don't know. Another good question would be, have you tried on another browser to see if it does the same thing ? And what's your monitor resolution ?

I have always used Firefox and would rather avoid IE. Any suggestion of what other browser to try? My monitor resolution is 1920 x 1080.

As for the size of the pics on the site it's my contention that the size of the pics in the galleries are much larger AFTER July 19...causing this trouble. If it was my browser or computer, then I should be having this trouble with all galleries, which I'm not.

Yeah, I'd rather avoid IE too. But it would be interesting to see if you have the same problem in IE.

Here's another idea. Sometimes issues that people have when using Firefox are caused by one of the extensions they're using. So, try restarting Firefox in "safe mode", which will temporarily disable the add-ons and some of your other customizations, and see if you still have the problem or if that fixes it. If it does fix it, then it's an add-on that's causing the issue.

Didn't staff increase the resolution of pictures sometime this year though?

Now that you mention it, this whole question came up before in the bugs thread, here, and there was some discussion about increased resolution.

I admit that I don't know what's going on with this whole image size issue. I'm using a desktop PC with Windows 7 and Firefox 16, and whenever I look at photos sets, whether recent or from a while ago, using the HTML viewer, the pics are always 1200 x 800. And when I use the Flash viewer, they're resized to fit the screen. So to me the pics look like they're the same size as before. But that might be different for people using different devices, or different software, or viewing the mobile site.

I think this is exactly the issue. For example, if you right click the 10th picture of a gallery of 50 pics and click "save as" you will get a number corresponding to the pic in the gallery, which in this case would be 10. Now right click on any picture in a gallery after July 19, 2012, suddenly the extension will look like this: 10_2x....telling me that the pictures are a whole lot bigger in resolution and explaining why I'm only seeing a fraction of each picture using the HTML picture gallery. I'm not having these issues with other sites.

By the way, my OS is Windows 7 Home Premium Edition,

I'll try this and see if this makes a difference but I don't think it will. See my comment under Thistle's thread.

BTW, I appreciate everyone's comments. smile

The name of the file is another clue of some sort. When I'm using the HTML viewer, and I right-click on the 10th picture of a photo set and do Save Image As, the name of the file is 10.jpg, not 10_2x.jpg, whether the photo set is from before or after July 19th.

I just wanted to add that I checked and sets from before and after July appear the same size on my screen using the HTML viewer. I use Google Chrome on a Mac OS10.8.1 machine.

The images were increase, I believe, for Apple ipad resolutions. The new photography standards call for a much higher resolution.

This sounds like the images are not being properly sized on the desktop. This can happen if the sizing is done through javascript and javascript in your browser is disabled. This can also happen on certain browsers if the css is not rendering properly. I've actually noticed a lot of really strange css errors in Firefox lately, like Firefox not recognizing css it had formerly recognized without problems.

Well, switching to Google Chrome did the trick. I'm able to see all the pics perfectly.

I appreciate everyone's feedback. See you around! smile
