so, this feature isn't working for me anymore. the box doesn't pop up...
has it been disabled then?
I actually liked it...
It's been changed so that you only get it once per set now.

hey there is something wrong with the "what did you think of this set?" pop-up.
it cuts your comment off basically (only posts the first few words). so then i have to find my comment and edit it and write what else i had to say.
does that make sense? this should really be fixed. ![]()
PS. I like this new feature bc it reminds people to comment(which as we all know is really nice * see sticky topic at top of Girls Board*), helps the user find the comment box if they for some reason couldn't before with the new site changes, & I say the more comments the better. It's good to know people liked your set. There are so many more people commenting now that otherwise would not have.
oh, but i hate the generic 'i loved it' thing.

im not too sure about this. im all up for commenting and letting ppl know how you feel. but having this pop up when i just click on a pic to look at out of the set is annoying. and i sometimes just cant be assed typing but then i have to. im sorry to say it and i will get a lot of stick FOr saying it most likely but i feel its almost like becomin almost dictatorship as in TELL US HOW YOU FEEL>>>>> WE MUST KNOW... shouldnt it be feel free to let us know how you feel
kind of reminisiant of how Facewhore/profilenation was a rockin profile site then they decided to change it to compete with facepartyt and to pay the bills for servers and now it is just a FP clone insteead of a really good profile site.
i dunno im a moody bugger after all but i just dont like pop ups and feel you should get to choose to leve a co0mment not have it pop up in ur face ever time u wanna glance at a set

Then, uh... turn off the pop up in your Settings.

How about they put the "don't bother me with this shit" option on the popup itself. Yaknow, like every other UI designer has been doing with such optional, annoying crap since around windows 95. That way nobody needs to be told to "turn it off in their settings". Because I don't think most people are going to realize one has to look there and click things in order to make the site usable.
Or, even better yet, how about they, instead of making this unnecessary thing a disruption to the flow of using the site, make something passive. How about a "tell the staff what you think of this set" button on the flashy new photo viewer flash app?

okay so i didnt read the entire thread, but i do want to mention that although i was a little distracted by the comment box at first, i have noticed a GREAT increase in the number of comments each set is receiving now. Which i think is the purpose. and i can handle a little irritation if it means the sets are getting more comments.

If they were meaningful comments I might agree with you. But seeing "I loved it" on almost every comment left just seems lame to me.
I guess I can't speak for the models. But I think if it were me I would rather recieve comments that people actually thought about. And I know sometimes those comments can seem cliched too. But I still think a "cute set' or "beautiful" that somebody actually thought about is better than a dozen "I loved it's" that may have just been left to get rid of a comment box.

I think you should have to type something before it allows you to click the "love" or "hate" button. Otherwise... totally pointless!
Brilliant.
I also think annoymous members & members with 0 comments should be banned from the comment box as they're the main offenders of "I loved it". Maybe some kind of time period just like the tags.

There's an option in your settings for "set feedback", just turn it off.

i totally see that as a good thing!! it is really interesting to see the amount of anonymous members contributing. i like it!
about it being pointless to have love or hate it buttons, it isn't at all. a lot of people don't comment on the sets because they don't know what to write, and don't want to risk looking stupid, or inadvertently offensive. the simple i loved it is a great way to help with that.
as far as the i loved it comments not being personal enough, using a wise man's example of the usual 'great tits' comment, they weren't really to begin with. the people leaving i loved it probably wouldn't have been commenting previously.

i totally agree. its really bad. if a guy wants to comment. he will comment. it's just totally in the way.

The commenting *feature* is incredibly annoying actually it's down-right disruptive. I'm all for feedback, but shoving the form in my face just because I clicked on a set isn't the way to do it.
Imagine if nytimes.com blocked you're ability to browse to another story until you either made a comment on what you just read or closed the comment box by clicking the itsy bitsy x.
It's worse than any popup because it takes over the entire browser. It's just bad UI and has got to go.
(Love the new viewer though ... thanks for leaving the html one in place though for my slow visits)

I agree that the "love it/hate it" buttons are a good thing in regards to coaxing more people to participate in the website and providing a more accurate idea of how many people actually liked a particular set. However, I don't think we need to see the same 3-line-comment all over the set threads.
Really, I think that comment-counts in set-threads have become a pseudo-scoring system and that's not what they ought to be used for. When a user can pump up the comment-count on a particular set with a simple mouse click, it starts to feel like a Hot-or-Not-website experience. When an SG sees 1,000+ comments on her set, of course she's going to be flattered, but is she really going to read such a cumbersome thread in its entirety? A lot of folks might be discouraged from posting in a thread with that many comments. Or they may be encouraged to click "I loved It" instead of taking the time to point out what they enjoyed about the set in more detail.
If there was another way to tally the "I loved it"s that allowed the person viewing the set the option to either, reveal their identities or remain anonymous, without cluttering up the threads, (where some folks have actually bothered to write something), that might be a satisfactory compromise. I don't necessarily think the set threads should mandate substantial comments or even an actual discussion
. But, if someone simply wrote "yummie bewbs
" that still took more thought than a mouse click.

apparently there are some issues with it because now there are 76365363478 "i loved it" comments in the newest girls set threads.
and it's posting some people's opinions 5 or 6 times in a row making it impossible to look through the comments on a set without going insane.
I agree completely! I like to let my set comments build up for a while and then go back to look at them a month or two later for fun. For instance, every time I go back to my Butt Frenzy set, someone has something hilarious to say regarding Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Always a funny Meatwad or Mooninite quote. Well today I went to do that not knowing that the new "I loved it!" feature was in full action. (I haven't been on the com for ever, so I hadn't seen the new setup of the site, which I love for the most part.)
So anyway, I go to my set to look at the comments and all I see is "I loved it!" a few dozen times, which is nice and everything, I do like to see that so many people liked my set, but it's just so generic. I'd rather see more personalized comments. So it's nice, but disappointing at the same time.
But whatever, the rest of the site changes are awesome.

As much as I hate to admit it, the I love it comments are a fairly nice addition. As Posh said, the anonymous can still let their approval be known. But on top of that, I think this makes an improvement on the actual comments left on sets. Think about it: amongst all the "I Loved It" comments, yours will stand out, therefore leading you to put more thought into it. But on top of that, it's a nice gesture for the models knowing we could easily press a button and be done with it; and yet we still went out of our way to show just how much we love their sets. And if you don't like a set, you can let it be known without hurting feelings and causing a bunch of drama in the process.

what I'd prefer to see is a button in the upper left, next to where you can favorite a picture, that allows you to bring up the comment window. and I'd like to see it with more than just a "love it" or "hate it" button. maybe a window for a more in depth comment and a 1-5 skulls or hearts or robatzombieninjas or whatnot.
