it can mean alberta. but in this context i'm not sure. The Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association? American Land Title Association? Association for Library Trustees and Advocates? Australasian Law Teachers Association?
what kind of ad is that?
if you check the image source, it says it's from http://www.thecoolhunter.net/
are they allowed to use the logo like that?

I would imagine that Alta is a bike company, considering the same bike is in both pictures and the two people have disturbingly muscular thighs.
you sure are a sharp one. . .
alta is a bike company. this particular bike is a one speed bike designed to beef up your leg muscles. . . the photos are a bit exaggerated though. I guess you just suffer on hills. . . I'd take my old Schwinn cruiser that I found in the basement of my house.

Alta is actually the canadian press standard for Alberta. That's how Canadians abreviate that province. It's just that no one in this province knows it....

Yes, this is totally off topic. Sue me.
I thought they officially changed all the provinces to 2-letter abbreviations a couple years ago, hence "AB?" Is that... a MYTH?
As the only professional cyclist and cycling coach on here (I think), I can tell you that just riding in a hard gear occasionally will NOT make your legs bigger. The amount of maximum torque you can generate on a bicycle is an incredibly low percentage of what you could do, say, if you were doing a squat or a leg press.
Further, it's almost entirely decided by genetics.
Oh, let me add one more thing; the only cyclists whose thighs ever get that big are the 200 meter match sprinters. And those riders spend way more time in the gym than they do on their bikes.
there's different abberviations for different things. like, i know northwest territories is NWT for one thing and NT for another. though, technically, it should ONLY be NT since, the W is connected onto the N oh well.

Not a myth, just slow to catch on. It's for postal sorting purposes. The software seems to be based on US two letter state abbreviations, so they standardized two letter provincial/territorial ones too.
But lots of people still use Ont for Ontario, Que for Quebec, etc.
I think it's been almost as unsuccessful as the US Post Office getting people to use the zip + 4 system.
