Someone said you could type http://suicidegirls.com/hookup and still get the hookup page. I tried it and you get a screwed up version. I'd wait for the staff to fix it and get it running. I'm sure there are a few bugs on the new layout that might take a bit of time to get fixed.

In the meantime, chat is working and people seem to like that a lot.

Click Boards>Hookup, it's the third one down. Is that the hook-up you were looking for?

No - the old hookup allowed you to
* search for members by name, etc.
* listed quotes from the most recent diary entries by members
* listed the most recent pics uploaded by members
* listed member birthdays
* listed some random members.

most of this functionality was important for finding interesting new members

most of this functionality now seems to be gone mad

yesterday it was still possible as hey_fukko noted above, to get a screwed up version of the old page by typing http://suicidegirls.com/hookup by hand. And it did seem that it was still updating. But today this just forwards you to http://suicidegirls.com/local/ which is NOT the old functionality.

I am really really really unhappy with the new site.

And the preview of the profiles used to tell you where the person was from. No offense, but why would someone from jersey want to meet someone from long island? lol

Which you can do from your home page now.

* listed quotes from the most recent diary entries by members

Which is on the site home page now

* listed the most recent pics uploaded by members

You can still see the most recent pics uploaded by your friends. Some may not think that's enough, but some people were creeped out by their pics showing up there for everyone to see, and at least until members are able to control the privacy level of their pics, this is what we've got.

* listed some random members.

Now they're random local members. That's the only change. If you want random members from other locales, you can always enter a random zip code in the location box.

The birthday balloons do appear under people's avatars when it is their birthday.

Edit: Oh, ok, so it's not in the friends section on my profile. It would be good if it was (-:

Surely members should be smart enough to realise that people may look at their photos and if they are uncomfitable with people looking at them why are they posting them? I have many photo's on my page and I would never think of putting up anything that i wouldn't want other people to see. It is common sense.

I still miss the hookup page! it was the place to go when you'd seen all the sets, read every interesting topic, and annoyed all your friends until they stopped writing back. splitting half of what it used to do between the local page and a few graphically-overwhelmed little boxes hidden in various places around the site just isn't as much fun!

is this some hidden delight that the SG code monkeys are banging away on, to suprise us with sparkles and ribbons and shiny, shiny newness a few weeks hence? or am I withering away in a rocking chair on the porch of the SG nursing home, rambling uselessly to no one in particular about how good the old days were?
