alright, i'm going balls out here. i didn't have time to read through every zillionth page of comments given to the lovely manko on that posting, but i'm going to make a generalization.

not too many people seemed to have any kind of problem with manko's swastika cake. don't know what i'm talking about? Look here.. yes, i know manko is hot. yes i know seemingly everyone ever wants to be her.

i am not a prude. i'm not even one to be bothered often by contrary viewpoints. i'm personally a liberatarian socialist and engage in a number of illegal activities on a regular basis. i could list a fuckload of legal and illegal activity i am perfectly fine with. however, when we get into genocide territory, i get a little squeamish. you know what, i don't even care if manko is a fucking nazi. i'd be terribly disappointed though, that such a LACK of people seemed to even question the fact she HAS A FUCKING SWASTIKA ON HER CAKE!!!! *blink, blink*

if i am missing something crucial here, such as: the swastika is now a symbol of equality and love, then please let me know. i'm really puzzled...

I THINK IT"S PROBABLY A JOKE. MY FRIENDS WOULD DEFINITELY MAKE ME A CAKE THAT HAD A SWASTIKA ON IT FOR MY BIRTHDAY BECAUSE THEY ARE TWISTED WEIRDOS. BUT NOT NAZIS.

the swastika was not originally a Nazi symbol. Those douchebags stole it from the American Indians (I think) and assigned their nutty ideology to it.

That's true--it was a symbol for peace...It's also in a lot of Early Christian mosaics featuring Christ...

Still, now it's icky and taboo...

Hindu.

Though some Native American tribes in the Southwest had similar symbols, Hitler specifically stole the swastika from Hinduism.

Go you one better than that Fridge, it was an old Danish Viking symbol, sort of like the swedish wolf's hook, it was the rune symbol for power and dominance, a few of the old danish kings used to have it scribed over their halls. Hitler found that out and as part of the "Arian Claim" stole the symbol and altered it slightly, as a sort of twisted tip of the hat to the "Master Race", her was trying to build and "rebuild".

Personally I wish people would just shut the fuck up about it, until someone is gathering a few friends and shaving heads and then hanging people in someone's front yard, the occassional off color humor or statement made isn't hurting anyone, and as long as it's kept in check, is it any worse than just about EVERYONE I know african american or NOT, going around saying Nigga this and Nigga That. Just get the fuck over it already people. Laugh at everything, otherwise, you get wrinkles and cancer. Geez.

There is a swastica, yes, but in the next picture she's obviously taking a knife to it, as is the case with most cakes...

Not to mention the fact that the swastika is an inherently funny shape. Like the word kumquat, the name Walla Walla, Washington, and the image of a man slipping on a banana peel, the swastika, divorced of its connotations, is an inherently funny shape. I mean... look at it![/i[

Well, Mr.Sorrow. Seeing as Manko is allowed her public statement a la cake, I am allowed my counterstatement a la boards posting. I'd tend to argue with you that a very Aryan looking person making an "off color" cake with a RED AND BLACK (the coloring kind of rules out the symbol as a poor allusion to viking or hindu culture, or a symbol of peace) swastika is a little bit less acceptable than the politics of a black person taking back the N-word. I might even go so far as to say I'd accept it quite it a bit more maybe if I knew Manko was a Jew, or descendant of a French resistant, or had a relative who was gay and was killed in Auschwitz. However, I find it quite less likely that she would make such a statement then. Call me crazy.

It is a novel idea that I might ask Manko about it. I am generally assuming that she is too busy to answer my comment, and besides, I'm less interested in her intent than the fact that nobody's trigger response at the time was to demonstrate offense.

It IS interesting that she's taking a knife to it. I will mull that one over.

The full story of it

and hitler usually put his on a 45 degree angle, surrounded with a circle. There also have been comparisons to s. africa's old symbol (not sure if it has changed) as it is just like a swastika with only 3 sides instead of four.

It is actually supposed to be a good thing on that angle that she has it.

Oh and by the way, those that think it's a funny joke...

How about I put a picture of a black person swinging in a noose on my birthday cake? Or your mom being electrocuted. Goddamn, that is some funny shit.

Again, I don't mind so much whether she thinks that's funny, but that no one else seems to have thought it was tasteless. If the general consensus on this site is that genocide allusions are funny, I certainly don't belong here.

Well, you got one thing right.

Ever stop to think that maybe you haven't seen people complaining about it because others haven't SEEN it? Or because they took their objections to something more respectful and private like email?

Objections are not disrespectful. Her posting was not private, and the boards are here for discussion - not only compliments - of the girls.

I would almost think that it was a manji.

Manko made an audio track for the radio awhile back....it was all about her love of the japanese. The Manji is big there and means Eternal Life...quite opposite of the Swastika.
