You have spyware.
It's not SG, it's your computer.
Pick up Ad-Aware and you'll not suffer pop-ups anymore wink

Also, because sometimes those pesky spyware programs are tough to get rid of, if Ad-Aware doesn't do it for you, try Spybot Search & Destroy. In fact, you should try both just to be safe. A lot of times a piece of adware or spyware might get through one or the other, but usually not both.

Exactly what I clicked on this thread to say!
I love Ad-Aware.
Between using Mozilla Firefox and running Ad-Aware, I never have browser problems anymore.

And THEN run MS Anti- Spyware beta.

I prefer what I've dubbed the "anti-spyware cocktail" approach...

...to clean you up, and...

...to keep things that way.

We don't do pop up advertising in any form. It's evil and we hate it.

As others suggested, you probably have spyware.

Which made me giggle.

Yes, I second the motion on all of those progs - ESPECIALLY AVG FREE. It's lovely. Small, fast and automatic - AND FUCKING FREE. I knew I was in love with it when I was downloading a file, and AVG caught the worm hidden in it before the file had even finished downloading, and then canceled the download for me, thus saving me the suckshitness of having a worm. GET AVG FREE. NOW.

I second the motion... just wait a bit longer before using their beta version, it still has a few bugs that can be annoying.

I don't even have my images turned on (I'm on a school computer) and I know what you're talking about. I think they're annoying too. They kind of fuck with the pretty SG format of pictures on one side and words on the other side - I mean there is already a feature for avatars, do you need to add one as a signature too?

Everyone with "pirate" in their name has to have one, apparently.
