I'd be willing to say that's total crap. Official figures, which have of course been suspect since Playboy bought out Suicidegirls back when I was old skool, place the ratio as very close to equal. Slightly more penises.

The easiest way to figure out how many accounts SG has...

Stroll over to the Hookup page... Find the newest of the newbies and ask them to look at the source to their home page. A few lines in, they'll find a line that looks like...

<link rel="EditURI" href="http://suicidegirls.com/rsd/journals/[number]/" type="application/rsd+xml" title="SuicideGirls: Journals API" />
The [number] is their Metaweblogin' ID and could very well be referred to as just their userID in SG's DB. Now, all of this depends on the assumptions that the count started at zero or one (may not have), that the numbers are sequential (without gaps), and that every account has a unique ID (basically a sure thing). Now, if telling you this is against some part of the TOS pretend you didn't see it,...

<_<

>_>

...'cause I never said it.

Yes, but you also have to take into account that people come and go so that count is prolly not very accurate.

Well let's see . . . .
5 billion + people on the planet, majority don't have access to computers, so scratch 3 billion. assume theres an even split of men to woman. now chuck out all the non 16-35er's, so scratch a further billion and a half. leaves you with 500,000,000. Chop that down to 100,000,000 to rid the equation of all the 16-35er's that don't know about the site. Then out of that aw . . . . . fuck it.
My guess is as good as the next person's, I'd about 300,000 give or take.

well.. how about this as a very low underestimate... go to the local page, put in a country hit the magnifier, hit the view all button. each page as 8 X 4 = 32 profiles so 32x# pages gives you the # people in that region... I spent about 10 minutes doing it for some random countries and major cities in the US... see below. Problem is I don't know the search range for the city and one would have to search every freakin' area code. Maybe some geek can write an algorithm or something to do that... or maybe.. who cares. tons of cash money is being made.

When I first joined I remember seeing a 45,000 active members stat posted. The ads on myspace say "over 200,00 people have joined" so I'd guess somewhere between those numbers, given that probably all 200,000 people did not stay and that the site has grown since I joined.

On the G4 Icons special I'm pretty sure the narrator said there were more than 700,000 members. Whether that is true or not, well. Who knows?

Sean has always said the ratio of women to mean was something like 40/60.

He also has a business to run....and I'm sure its in his best interest to claim that the ratio is close to even to maintain the 'alt' image of the site.

Damn, you guys.
A lot of the information you're wanting to know and arguing about is all in print right here.

OH yeah, AND, enjoy those press pages while you can, because they're still formatted in the old style so we will definitely see them come down and may or may not see them return...
