On my computer? It used to be really fast. Then one day i upgraded to Netscape's latest version and it became super sluggish. I changed browsers to Firefox 1.0 and the same thing happened. At times it will be pretty quick and then for no apparent reason it will take 30seconds to a minute to load one page. I have DSL and it's lightening quick with every other site (100-300KPS downloads) But SG is the only site that gives me this problem. Not only does the SG site load incredibly slowly, but it slows down every other function on my computer as well.

Can somebody please help with this? Do i have too many tabs open? Clearing my cache didn't do anything the last time i did it. It's driving me bonkers and keeping me from being anywhere near as active as i once was here because it's so damn frustrating to do anything on the site.

It's like that for me too. It'll be fine one minute, then slow as hell for a little bit. Then back to normal. I have no problem with other sites.

Do you view the ads, or the artwork? There was some mention of the company that serves the ads being a little slow recently. I use the artwork.

Well it just took well over 30 seconds to see the replies to this...and no, i view the artwork. The way the page loads, each tab loads individually so that even just to see my friend's list on my journal can take 30 seconds or more. When it works fast, everything just pops up at once and it's no more than 5 seconds or so.

I've run virus scan and nothing's been detected and i'm not sure how to detect spyware. I'm kinda computer illiterate.

Being halfway around the world on a section of the intarweb backbone where the spammers operate out of could be causing some routing issues, thus your personal slow down.

I use FF 1.01, and it has been really slow at points recently. There's no malware on my computer, and I have it set to see ads. I think it's just the contrast between when there are and arn't lots of users on SG, i.e. it is worse in the evenings.

I think it's the ads, when I get stalls, it always seems to be Indieclick related.

There's this, if you feel like playing IT guy for five minutes.

While it doesn't stop stalls altogether, it seems to help avoid them.

But, yeah. Solving adware and connection issues will make the most difference...

I have noticed that SG is slower at night, but that is because most of the SG members are on at night. Its usually better during the day. But you should definately get some anti-spyware shit.

Like Steve said, get ad aware. then go here and download spybot search and destroy; it's another spyware catcher...each finds stuff the other won't.

Then mosey on over here and pick up crap cleaner. It'll clean all of your caches, temp folders...everything. Free and quick. If running those three things dosen't fix your problem, I don't know what to tell you.

I'm not having any problems and I look at the art.
Why would you want to look at ads instead of pretty ladies?

they keep saying they fixed the ads, but i keep noticing that they are slow now and then.

doublecheck that it is only SG.COM

Sometimes the site server bandwidth is running slow. Sometimes your ISP had a jolt. From what I gather DSL service tends to give people alot of problems compared to cable. Maybe it is time to upgrade?
