The Girls page still doesn't work for Netscape.

This was mentioned in the New Background thread, but I thought I'd bring it up where someone might find it sooner.

I am still waiting for people to provide me with the browser version of netscape and the platform on which it runs. It works perfectly in Netscape 7.2.

It breaks (does the empty gaps instead of images thing) on Netscape 7.1 on Windows XP. I'll check and see if it breaks on an older mac version too, but I don't have Netscape at all on this box, so it'll be a minute...

I was using Netscape 7.0 this morning, but when my help request came back suggesting 7.2, I sucked it up and downloaded it. It works fine. It just moved my Bookmarks location so I keep clicking on "Form Fill." Bah.

Supposedly they're both based on the same code (gecko) but for some reason the netscape people managed to mess stuff up a lot. I don't trust it. Agreed. Firefox/Mozilla all the way.

NETSCAPE WORKS FINE. I have never had problems with it (before the Girls section upgrade, and that was because I didn't have the latest version) and I ♥ it. You Firefox people are snobby.

Hey, I'm running the most recent versions of Safari and Firefox, and a couple other lesser known browsers. Netscape is the bastard child around here. I forgot I even had it until today.

But yes, you're right, everybody gots to upgrade da browsers. smile

Firefox kicks ass. I only have netscape on my machine to test any webpages I design on different browers.

Right, I understand that. But the reason I mentioned it was as a heads up thing for ya'll. I'm sure there are members out there that would have no clue that it was redesigned because they aren't active on the boards. smile

Well... one could argue that REEEALLY being snobby would have ot be, like, "MOSAIC IS THE WAY TO GO!"

ooo aaa

But seriously though, that little spinny lighthouse thing was the bomb.

How many people on this site even remember Mosaic, anyway?

Gopher, anyone?

Can I get a WAIS?

Anyone, anyone?

I remember it from the misty olden golden days. Back when I still used to use Pine. Oh wait, I still use Pine.

Whoever wrote Pine was smart.

Who else remembers what an X25 cloud is?

Oh SNAP.

Hey, I remember doing ARCHIE searches. wink And I remember using lynx.

And running up massive phone bills for dialup BBSs, then getting free access through a university and spending 10 hours at a time on MUDs.

Gopher, WAIS, all that. Yup. Mosaic on monochrome Sun terminals in the math labs at school going WHOA....

It's funny, if you go into help>about in IE, it says it's based on NCSA Mosaic. So technically, if you're using IE, you're using Mosaic. But who in their right mind would do that? smile

I really hate to tell you this, but your netscape is netscape in name only. Read the history. Netscape is now just a re-branded version of the Mozilla/Firefox browser (the engine known as Gecko). But the Netscape name is owned by AOL so they add in all kind of extra junk.

I loved netscape back in the day, but it's time to let go. It died years ago at version 4.79. Grab Firefox or Mozilla. Get your browser straight from the source. You won't be sorry.
