I was just wondering if we might be able to do something like this? In light of the recent tragedy felt by us all, I think we could do something for those who are over there.

Thanks.

how would the organization of it go?

like each person who does it sends something cool to the head person and that person sends it to someone in iraq to be distributed? i could buy a calender and stuff and put it in to the 'pot'. (if thats something you can do?! *scared of trouble*). guys/girls over there may certainly love looking at pretty girls?! like cds or cool shit and make it SG related?!

just wondering
but yeah

The way most people do it right now is that they will either send it to somebody they know out here and have them distribute it. I have friends in Miramar who organize packages for most of the Marines and Sailors out here. All you really need to know is an address of somebody out here and request that they distribute the stuff to everybody.

I would be up to helping out. If you need help organizing I would help with that as well. Just let me know what is needed.

Any Soldier... one of the best ways to send stuff when you don't know someone

maybe this will help you out.

As a former soldier that has been deployed, knowing that the homefront supports you, is a boost like no other!

I would support and participate in anything that gets started...

I'm concerned about what people plan on putting in this package.

Be kind: package batteries seperatly.

I think this is a GREAT idea!!! Maybe theres some way we could set up a pen pal type system. That way we can each be assigned to one person and keep up with the same soldier wink . Not only would it be a great way to help out but also an oppertunity to maybe make a new friend wink and over time you'll get to know your person more and get a feel for there specific needs for care packages biggrin

There should be a list of "unwelcome" items or whatever the army calls it somewhere online. Be sure to stick to that - don't want any care packages confinscated because we were unknowing!

That said, I'm in.
I think that we need to remember the ladies overseas... They have *cough cough* special needs that aren't being WELL taken care of by the govt.

the best thing to do, I've seen on other boards, is to send them music, movies, etc etc... anyone w/ a copy or Nero can shuffle off a screener of The Aviator , which of course would only be watchable for accadamy review, but I'm sure they are on that list.

No seriously, that's what others I know have done.

i started a thread last year about doing care packages.. especially to SG guys over there... tons of people talked about how much they wanted to help.. and told me all the stuff they were going to send me to put together and mail out.. then nobody sent me anything frown

so .. good luck.
