I'm interested to find out how much interest there would be among the members of Suicide Girls to bring fine art to the website, other than photography and fan art. I am thinking along the lines of what Olivia was creating in concert with playboy, using the models to generate fine works of art for display and possible sales. Of course I personally have an interest in doing this as I am an artist. For an example of what I am proposing please view my website at

Krys Tourtois

The majority of the work on the site are watercolor paintings and the work is along the lines of what I would like to bring to Suicide Girls.

Well, there is an artist group on the site. I'm sure there's some fine art in there.

What I am proposing is essentially an online art gallery where artist can sell work of the Suicide girls through the website. Yes there are groups and galleries but I am talking about something more like an online shop where if the work sells Suicide Girls would collect a percentage of sales.

Art of the SGs for sale, or art by the SGs for sale?

I know SGs can promote their stuff through their journals. I'd be mildly interested in seeing all that collected in one place. Even something simple like an alphbetized list of SG names with a one line description and an URL.

(I say mildly interested because I have no cash and am unable to buy anything.)

This was something I wondered when I became a Suicide Girl and think is a kickass idea. However, I'm not sure how payment would go, what we would split with SG and the whole lot.

Go pester Sean. I want my Suicide Girls illustrations for sale as well : )

I think this idea is kinda cool, although I think this might fall under the umbrella of the age old question of "want ads" or "classified ads" on the site. That being said, I KNOW there are some really great artists on here, like lil_tuffy and DigDug. I'd be curious as to what they would think.

Not SG Olivia, another one. She did many drawings of pinups, including Bettie Page. They were sort of fantasy style.

Olivia de Berardinis got her jumpstart by becoming an illustrator for Playboy, using their photography as references for her own illustrations of the models.

As to the issue of payment, this is something that would probably have to be fielded through the site directly. For example when I sell a piece of art in a gallery, say for $100, the gallery will take a percentage of that as a commission and then I keep the rest. It could work the same way on the site as the shop does, probably through a credit card, or however they want to be payed.

I have already approached both Missy and Sean about this idea but have not recieved any kind of response as of this time, and I wanted to see what public opinion was like on the issue.

This is not like want ads or classified ads. This would be an online gallery supported by the website and for the website.

Well, I mentioned "want ads" or "classified ads" in the respect of someone else wanting to sell something- anything, really- through the site. It's been brought up before, and people are kind of split on the issue, I think.

I still think it's a cool idea, though. When I return to a higher-speed connection to la internet, I shall gaze upon your art and see how I like it.

Thanks to everyone for checking out my website. My stats have gone up more than when I have an exhibition! I'm going to get in there soon to add titles to all of the newer work on the opening page, I promise.

Anyone else have any opinion on bringing fine art to SG?

Hmm...indeed, it looks like they've gone up a lot.

Thanks for letting me know that. It should correct itself within the hour, serves me right for getting a site through a free provider.

But what did you think of the idea of bringing art to Sg?

Ok, but you may not like my response.

I may be interested in seeing some Fine Art on SG. Know where I can see some? The Pop Art you present is good, but its not what I would call Fine Art.

In your journal you state to (someone?) they should check out this thread... but to whom do you speak? I don't know how many people read my journal that are not on my friend's list, and you don't have any of those yet..

You also state you are trying to get Missy's attention. Missy is pretty busy. Try Sean, or better yet the Culture Editor Sorcha.

You stated you've already emailed both Sean and Missy. I don't know if or when they would respond, but I'm sure they receive many emails about similar things, and you're so new to the site, they may view this as just another attempt for someone to make a quick buck off their hard work (in building the site up). Heck, I'm still so new to the site, I wouldn't expect them to even notice me yet (at least you're a girl, you could be an up and coming SG for all I know).

WHOA.... EXCUSE FUCKIN' ME... Ok, ok, I see what's going on here, you're thinking of Fine Art in its traditional sense of "High Art" or, right now, those who work solely for gallery presentation. Krys means Fine Art as the traditional art of drawing, painting, etc. as opposed to pinup photography-- not to say that that's not fine Art as well.

But you can suck my left nut if Pop Art isn't considered Fine Art. And if you want to see some FINE Art on SG, go look at my sketchbook. In short, if you're going to be putting restrictions on art, you can go fuck right off. tongue

And Krys, yes, people have made several mentions of doing something that combines drawing/painting/digital art/printmaking/sculpture/etc. with SG. There are many artists on the site and I'm SURE Missy gets plenty of site suggestions on a daily basis. The thing is, those things cost money and Missy is a successful businesswoman at the end of the day. If she hasn't done it yet, it's probably because it would be a bad business move and we don't want to lose SG, do we? But yes, it's not for lack of trying. Lastly, I'm sorry to say this because I don't want to censor you, but you might want to think about holding off on these types of suggestions or trying to get Missy's attention until your n00b period is up.

Lastly, I just want to say that, like many people and many SGs, my art is my life, I wish I could express myself professionally over SG, or at least see other painters/sculptors/printmakers/etc. express themselves about SGs and be paid for it, but I doubt it's ever going to happen.

That all said, I would like to add supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! robot ARRR!!! miao!! blackeyed kiss I'm done.
