Try this.
Firefox

I don't know how long it's been out, but I just downloaded it.
Everything is five times faster.
Everything is sweeter.

Firefox/Firebird/Phoenix has been out for almost 2 years, but it's really coming into its own in its last few releases. Even the Mac OS X version is excellent.

As Olivia and s5 have stated in the past, this site is designed for, and looks best on Safari. Since not everyone has a Mac though, Firefox is the next best thing. I live by my copy and download it any time I'm at another Windows or Linux computer. It's arguably the best browser out right now, moreso than Safari because of its extensibility.

I simply can't use IE anymore.

on behalf of everyone who makes websites, please please download a standards--compliant browser like firefox. install it on your machines. then go do your parent's and grandparent's machines. root out non-compliant browsers and consign them to the grey wasting.

The layout for SG looks a bit strange on mine but I'll tweak it a bit. It's awesome for other sites though... Such speed!

Enable ClearType in your Display Preferences, and it will make the site look a lot better. It's about as close as you can get to making it look as good as it does in Safari.

Also make sure to take advantage of Firefox's biggest strength, its weath of XPI extensions. Out of the box it's a great browser, but it is orders of magnitude better when you add a couple extras to it.

I recommend at the very least Tab Extensions and Mouse Gestures. It will significantly improve your web browsing experience, and make it easier to waste your life on here biggrin

Firefox is excellent, especially because of tabbed browsing.

But, since IE loads faster ('cause the fucker is always in memory), I tend to use it more often.

Edited to say:

I didn't know about those XPI extensions. Groovy. I wanted to be able to move the tabs around via drag-n-drop. Thanks Ace.

right-click in a blank space on the desktop

choose Properties

select the Appearance tab

click the Effects button at the lower right of the dialog box

make sure that there is a checkmark next to “Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts” and that “ClearType” is the choice in the pulldown menu

click OK to exit

Before anyone using a Windows version prior to XP (like me, 2K), don't waste your time looking for that option. It doesn't exist for pre-XP folks.

you should be able to in any browser. i've been using firefox since it was released and you definitely can inscrease text size. you should grab a copy.

Firephoenixbirdfox is quite easily the best browser in the universe, ever. take time to look through the whole extension list after installing - especially if you're a developer. the Checky extension is about as handy a validation tool as you're likely to get.

remember the keyboard when you're using it, keyboard = fastness:

ctrl+l - address bar
ctrl+k - google bar
/ (seach text) - find in links
\ (search text) - find in text
ctrl+enter - open selected link in new tab
ctrl+t - open blank tab
ctrl+w - close tab
ctrl+tab - cycle through open tabs
ctrl+pgup - next tab
ctrl+pgdn - previous tab

there are more, but i can't remember them all right now. anyone have any i missed?

edit: posh just reminded me - ctrl+mousewheel changes text size.

That's cause they are both built on the Mozilla core.

You're not using Mouse Gestures biggrin If you want fastness, just click and move your mouse up, new tab! Move in a Z, it's closed. I guess since I'm already using my mouse to click links and such, it's faster than switching between mouse and keyboard for me.
