I've been thinking...if you have a Suicidegirls account, or you are a suicide girl and your employers find out, could you lose a job or miss out on one you've been applying to?

depends on the job.
being a suicidegirl would be more problematic for some career paths than a member i'd assume.

If you have an account, it's a bit hard to trace your account to you unless you repeatedly sign your "open to the public" journals with your full name and address.

Suicide Girls are a bit more susceptible to being found out because they actually post pictures and the key thing to remember is, anything....anything you post on the internet can come back to haunt you.

I have only heard of one case (I think) where a job was compromised for a member of the site. But I've heard of many cases where a person's membership on the site has haunted their personal lives. If you're worried about it, keep a low profile around here.

Also if you're worried about it, maybe cut down on the easily identifiable photos.

Or perhaps I'm just a bit paranoid.

Hasn't hurt me any, and I've been posting things on the front page of the site under my full name for almost ten years. I've even put it on my resume at places that actually still hired me. Of course, I wasn't modeling, for which everyone is grateful. So yeah, I guess it depends on what it is.

If you're shy about it, just don't use your real name and make sure that you don't use the same alias here that you use everywhere on the internet, like Facebook and Twitter for example. You could conceal your identity here all you want and it wouldn't do you any good if they pull up your Twitter under Mary Sue as @MissSebastian and then google "MissSebastian" and find your SG account. You know?

i apply for jobs with a different email address, and don't use my full name on my facebook or here (both on the non-work address).

there are ways to be less traceable.

also, i try to keep my face out of the more "compromising" pictures i post. i'm definitely not hiding here, but i don't make it really easy to find me, either

Work in Hollywood like me. A membership here will probably look like one of the better life choices you could make.

I have a friend who was fired because he signed in at work.

I know some members who don't post photos or list their location because their job might be compromised.

For sgs, it depends on your career. A preschool teacher should probably think twice before posing for the site. But if your job is more adult-oriented (bartender, stripper, work for chill startup) you are probably fine.

I keep most of my information deliberatly out of date and my journal entries to members of the site only. I do not tell people my real name unless I have met them in person, and even then, they only get my first name spare for special circumstances.

All in all, it really is up to you to control your own privacy. If you are worried about employment etc. than make sure you take measures to conceal your presence on the site from those who you do not wish to know about it.

In this economy it pays to make informed decisions.

People have lost their jobs for far less than being involved in a web site such as this, of course they have lost their jobs for far worse things too.

This. What I do on my own time is my own business.

Sadly, jobs that care do exist, and logging in at work can get you fired. But MOST jobs won't or can't do anything if you're a member and you keep it on your own time. I'm sure modeling brings more risk than membership, but only certain jobs will check or care.

Personally I don't care. What I do is what I do. If there is some odd reason someone wouldn't hire me because of it, it probably wasn't a job I really wanted anyways.

I'm sure being a SG would def conflict if one held a position where they constantly represent the work place, IE CEO, rep, etc. I've studied most legal agreements to the jobs I've applied for, some upper-class and some downright dirty jobs I might add. Yet, it always comes down to whether you are tarnishing, or at least what they call "tarnishing", the company directly. For example, misconduct at the work place or misconduct anywhere while wearing a uniform. Otherwise, they are probably firing you out of pure bias and that, my friends, is when you hit the unemployment office. shocked

it's been a little bit of a hassle for me, but by not posting pictures of myself, and not listing the companies i work for here on my page, it hasn't really become a problem yet.

"warchildrex" could be anybody...there's no proof existing of who he really is.
