I met a very attractive girl tonight, with awesome tattoos:confused, in a Philadelphia bar, who was dismissive of SG having said she went to try for the site but was put off because - she claimed - she would only be paid $300 for the pics and SG would own the copyright for 10 years. Is this true? Seems mightily unfair if it is, and can't imagine so many girls would agree to pics if that were the case. Can you help a confused Englishman in Philadelphia?

(This entry appears in another board because I'm a fuckwit and a bit drunk) confused

it's $500, not $300. and it's the same with selling your pictures to anyone...they then own the rights to them. it's part of the contract.

if it was a photoshoot for puppy chow it would be the same deal

SG pays the model $500 for the rights to the pictures.

It's the same as selling/purchasing anything. You get paid for your goods. Same as selling a tv, if you sell a tv, you get paid for it, and the buyer now owns it for as long as they want it. That's exactly what SG is doing, they are buying our goods - our images, so naturally, they own them.

A product of those luscious Philly "city wide specials" ($4 for a shot & a beer), I see.

Well this thread is just full of win.
Usually any post that begins with "I" and ends with "drunk" isn't a good idea.
(In most cases) Anything involving money, a signed contract, written consent and agreement is not unfair.

I'd have definitely taken everything that girl at the bar said seriously.

She was an uninformed twat and you where drunk.

I would guess she "sent and tried for the site" but got declined or she is talking about the payment that applied ages ago, also the 10 year rule is bs, it's forever. prettymuch applies to every pic you upload to the site, they can do what they want with it.

I'd also like to add that the part about SG owning the pictures for all time is pretty standard in almost any modeling contract.

I would assume you'd also get a lot of 'hidden benefits' not included in the $500 from being able to label yourself a SuicideGirl. Free advertising for side projects (your blogs, etc.), a buttload of networking contacts from friends met, etc. An enterprising young lady could turn a couple of photosets here into something huge.

I've learned that a lot of the girls who "look" like SGs but hate the site ... are girls that tried, but weren't good enough to be SGs and didn't stick around for the community.
These same girls like to spread falsities around because if they can't enjoy it then NOBODY should! mad

What's fun is asking them specifics about the site, other SGs, etc, and seeing that they don't actually know wtf they are talking about.

Whatever the case may be, I'm sure bar skanks the world over can now rest assured that Captain Drunk Fuckwit -- in a half-arsed attempt at getting laid -- will be looking out for their best interests across the interwebz of T&A.

Let me add that is $500 for the model plus $500 for the photographer.

I have to point out that most of the Hopeful's main mistake is to work without a professional photographer.

I don't want to assume that they are after the $1000, I just think is an honest mistake... but mistake at the end.

... and a waste of time.

I don't think that's necessarily the case for the photographer.
I could be wrong, but, I think non-staff photographers do not get $500.
I don't know how much they do get, maybe $100/200 or a membership.
