An open letter to group admins

Most Private Group Owners triple check. I know I do.

I love SG with all my heart but we should at least be able to vent... I am venting out of LOVE folks... This is also not meant to be an insult to ANY group owners as I like all of those that I have dealt with thus far on the site.



To get to the original topic at hand, I understand what he is saying. Last year I had an account under a different name and it expired. I couldn't keep up with the bill at the time and so when I could I did try to get it back but I accidentally signed up for a new account. I had paid for the last account with my husbands debit card and it had since changed so I couldn't give the site admins. the number.

The point was is that i was gone for only three months and when I came back I had to start all over again. That included groups I once belonged to. I won't mention names, but group ownership had changed hands in my FAVORITE group and I had to reapply to be in it. I was there everyday and had quite a few friends and NEVER a problem, not ONCE!
So I explained my situation and the group leader responded by BANNING me!!!! I was very hurt and shocked as I was a regular everyday participant in the group and followed the rules to the letter. She gave me the excuse that ONE member didn't like me so I was BANNED forever!
I am not the kind of person who just goes and insults people either, that's just mean...
I have no Idea who that would be since no one ever said I had hurt their feelings or pissed them off. I practically begged for a second chance but it was moot.

I also have internet issues and I wasn't sure if the leader had gotten my applications for the group because she never responded for like a month so I sent her a few just to make sure she got it. I figure I guess that is the reason she banned me, I guess I bothered her too much


That group was my fave reason to be here on SG. I love the models but this exclusive meanness is just WRONG! I have since joined a much more accepting group and am glad at least that they aren't unhappy with me there.


Oh and BTW... If a group owner can't check their messages/ applications at least within a month then why in the hell are they a group owner anyway? Not being rude.. just asking... If u don't have the time to get back to people then why?

You're right, I mean it in the sense that I felt this was unjustified and I would have just like to have had a more acceptable reason for my non acceptance.

That is, indeed, poor form.

Zephyria, I think you ask a mod about that. A group owner shouldn't be running a group like that. Just b/c one member doesn't like you is not a good reason to ban you from a group. Sounds like someone is abusing their power and the group could use a new owner.

Devil's Advocate: Or maybe that group is set up to be a safe place to talk about private things and that one person had a legitimate complaint.

Good point. I participate in a couple of very private groups, which run on a vouch system for good reason, and if I had a legitimate complaint about a member that went ignored I would be upset.

Which is another point to bring up in this thread. Posting in public groups, commenting on people's blogs and writing your own blog means you're more likely to have friends who will vouch for you if you want to get into groups of a very private nature.

Yeah I was banned over what seemed to be a popularity contest in a certain group. i just kinda laughed.
