I know this is address in a number of threads here and there, but I'm not sure if there is a thread specifically dedicated to this. If I missed it sorry! If not, here we go! Anyone who's been on the site for a bit knows the number of sets a day has gone up and down, back and forth, and fluctuated from time to time. So, in your perfect SG world, whats the ideal # of sets per day, and why?

My Ideal: 2 Sets a Day

For me I like to check SG in the morning before work and at night after. I think it's a nice treat having a different girl to look at each time. Each girl having 12 hours to be the "main focus" is, in my mind, a good amount of time to have the spotlight, and I think it spices it up more than 1 a day. I thought 4 was too many, and 3 was sort of weird time spans with one girl getting the "graveyard" shift, if you will.

I could go for 2 a day.. thats the amount of sets per day that went up when I had my first account here.. Since I have been back the only one a day has kind of disappointed me. And it seems with soooo many worthwhile hopefuls and member review sets that two a day wouldn't be a difficult thing to accomplish. whatever

I wasn't complaining, or suggesting this will change it, just bringing it up for the sake of conversation sake. confused

You (proponents of two sets a day) are outnumbered by members who do not participate in the community cancelling their memberships due to being overwhelmed by too many sets per day. One set a day is a business decision and, again, it is NOT changing anytime soon. This discussion is pointless at this time.

So I was catching up on TED Talks today and I saw Malcolm Gladwell on Spaghetti Sauce. Watch it.

What you'll realize is that there is no ideal number of sets per day and any amount of polling will continue to prove that. What we need is different "flavors" of subscriptions that access different sets (or versions of the same set)
What if you we had the option at sign up for
-1 set a day (50 pictures)
-5 sets a day (10 pictures each)
-25 sets a day (2 pictures each)

Then everybody can get what they want.
but then Barry Schwartz explains why this would actually make us less happy.

Dan Ariely points out that maybe offering all these subscription options and then a more expensive "or see all flavors of SG sets for x amount of money" option might get more subscribers to that more expensive one since you're comparing it to worse options to drive up the value. And TA DA! more revenue to SG and more sets from the SGs.

That sounds very logistically complicated. It's not like there aren't a couple thousand sets already.

Ya know sometimes asking a question doesn't hurt. I'm not trying to start a fucking mutiny I was just making conversation.

I was just asking because back when SG originally went to two sets a day (maybe in like 06? not sure when) everyone FLIPPED. Everyone was furious over girls not having a full day to themselves, having to share the homepage, etc. etc. Basically the exact opposite of what the site is experiencing now. So I was merely curious as to the psychological shift... if people prefer 4 sets, why? If they like one, why? Why were people originally so pissed the number of sets went up, and now that they went down? The obvious answer is you can't make everyone happy. Nonetheless I was just investigating personal preference.

You're right; asking a question doesn't hurt. But, this question has been asked to death, in multiple topics, all over the site.

If you want to simplify things, let's start with your statement by eliminating the double negative. now we have "There are a couple thousand sets already."

that's great news! We have content to launch this idea with.

And yes. Many things worth doing are logistically complicated. But if it makes money...isn't it worth looking into?

What do you think about a $99 lifetime membership that is $49 for people who have been around since before 2005, maxx, what would your TED geniuses say about that?
