I'm lost
April 2003

I know this might not get addressed ever, but I really think that the ignore system on this site is slightly backwards.

When I put someone one ignore it’s because I don’t even want them to know I exist. I don’t want them to be able to lurk on my comments, I don’t want them to see who I am friends with, I don’t want them to read my public blogs.

My comments are friends only. My groups are friends only. Half of my blogs are friends only.

I wish that the people that I put on ignore had the inability to even look at my blog. I wish that clicking on my username would lead them back to the homepage. I wish there was a way, that when I put someone on ignore they not only lost the ability to post comments or send me messages, but that my comments on the site were blocked like theirs are to me.

It’s a tall order. But maybe this is something that could be put on the back burner and thought about for something that could be changed in the future.

/end rant.

Thanks. smile

So, kinda like the "block" feature on Twitter? I'm all for that.

I think the ignore system is for you to ignore them, not for them to ignore you.

And that is what makes it backwards.

That can of course only work for things that are restricted to site members in the first place.

I wouldn't mind if there were separate "ignore" and "block" functions. Sometimes I have people on ignore because I absolutely don't care what they have to say, so I can't be arsed to read it. I couldn't care less if they read my stuff.
But sometimes I have people on ignore because they are dicks to me. I honestly don't think they are going to send me a friend request, but I would prefer it they couldn't read anything at all that I wrote, because that just gives them fuel for whatever fire of hatred they already possess.

It would be nice to totally block someone.

There are people in this thread who have tried to use the content of my journal to attack me when I already had them on ignore, so I find their agreement for the proposed policy rather ironic.

Please name names. This sounds way more interesting than this thread.

Even though I think this would rock, I don't see it being open to active Suicide Girls.. I mean, to block a member completely would take away his "right" to see the sets to that specific SG..

You know, the $4 gives em mega rights tongue whatever
