Of the 106 sets posted in the last 30 days only 12 of them are rated under 95%, and the lowest score is still a whopping 92%
I think this backs up my point.
edit: ok I see it now. That's for "set of the day" sets. I'm assuming that sets are chosen for that because they're rated so highly? I misunderstood how sets were chosen and displayed on the site. So sets get posted as "under member review" first, and then promoted to Set of the Day if they're good enough?
How can you view sets and they're actually posted?
Sets go from Member Review to Set of the Day, yes.
(Unless they are accepted through Staff Review which is different story entirely)
BUT, again, not all Sets of the Day are rated in the high 90%'s. Most are, but not all. Getting a set on the front page...well, there is not set formula. Not exactly anyways. High percent is one thing, but there are other factors, too. You should check out FAQs.

If you go to the big PICS tab up top there, you can sort all the sets on the site by percent loved, when it was posted, whether it's member review or a set of the day, whether it's be a hopeful or an existing SG. I think if you browse inside that tab for a while you will learn a lot about the sets here on SG as well as getting to look at some great pictures
I hardly ever click not for me, in the last month I clicked it twice because the models looked so young it made me uncomfortable.
I know the girls that are sending in sets are of age, it just kinda creeps me out looking at naked girls who look like teenagers. Definitely not for me.
I click not for me if the set has no description or has a flipped order. It's missing the most basic things the model should've done to present their set right and if it's not even worth the effort, it's not worth a "I loved it" for me. I do make exceptions, of course, but this is my guideline
I click it often. I've been slipping lately, though. I probably should click it more often. If there's a duckface picture, the set gets a "not for me" regardless of quality.
I push it because of flipped order of photos (like Asio), for a lazy-looking set with a lack of attitude or emotion at all, if they are over-edited and generally bad quality and especially,
and MOSTLY
if the gal is a spammer with a bad attitude.
but only once do I push the button. I don't spam her sets with constant "Not for Me"s as one gal has accused many of us of doing.
If the gal in the set just isn't my 'type' I don't push "not for me." For me it's more about photo quality and attitude rather than 'would I do this girl?'
I think Loved It and Not For Me are great ideas. However, showing the percentage to anyone except the staff, is probably NOT. Of COURSE people are going to obsess over their numbers, take things personally, compare themselves, etc, etc, it's human nature. So keep the buttons, lose the [public] numbers.
Honestly, is there any benefit to having the exact numbers be visible? Even if you want to sort by "most liked", that doesn't require the precise formula to be exposed.
The funny thing is the whole system does remind me of a company I used to work for with random inspections, where -- out of 100 -- any score below a 95 was considered horrible.
I think the numbers can be both constructive and destructive, depending on the person and how they choose to use the info for the future and if they can handle the relativity of it all.

Agreed. For me, seeing the numbers on my MR sets go up and up as I submit them lets me know I'm on the right track.
Seeing the percentages actually helps a lot when it comes to figuring out why your set wasn't purchased. It's not the be-all end-all of course, since sometimes sets with high percentages don't get bought, but I was thinking the other day about how back in the day your set just wouldn't get bought and all you would have to go on was the standard staff line of "it was not what we are looking for at this time but it's a great set and you are beautiful etc etc." Although sometimes the model coordinator would take the time to give you feedback if you asked for it.
In all, while it hurts sometimes to see the exact percentages, I prefer knowing rather than guessing and feeling like some girls were just preferred by staff for unknown reasons.
i feel like sometimes seeing a low percentage can make me look at a set with a more critical eye. like if something is at say, 87%, i'm looking at it to find out why it's so low, instead of looking at it and drawing my own conclusions.
i don't intend to, it's just an automatic response. it doesn't mean i'm any more or less likely to like it or not, but i am more likely to look for the flaws if a lot of people clearly hit not for me.
i rarely click 'not for me', because they are sets that will not get bought anyway and already have a low percentage... so i feel my input has no point. the models cant see what the 'dislike' comments say anyway, so its not really constructive as they cannot learn why ppl dont like it. im at 96% on my latest set and i wish i could know why 4% dont feel it is front page worthy. i will not know why since i cant see those comments. just a shot in the dark to guess. im guessing they just dont like me, body or something.
i look at everything in a set before 'loving' it. quality, model/ expressions, location, lighting. i only give loves to sets that i feel truly deserve it. others i usually ignore.

Yeah I wish we would get comments back on the not for mes, but I realize that could be real harsh if taken the wrong way
I usually click not for me if the girls a spammer or has a bad attitude.

ya, they could make the names of the ppl annonymous, that is reasonable

I very rarely touch it, but think I may start with all the white, bedroom, lolita sets.
i agree. good photography or not, the big trend on SG lately isn't getting too interesting.
I also had WAY more fun shooting themed, colorful sets than I did my bedroom set. It does honestly make me want to push the 'not for me' button on the exact same set in the same location with the same bed, same lighting, same editing, same poses just....different girl. And that's not fair for the model, who worked hard and probably paid that photog good money to come up with something original. so on those, I silently stew and stay away from the NFM button.

Why would you NOT push the not for me button in this case? That's what it's there for.

If I don't like a set because of my own reasons like boredom or poor lighting, don't like the setting...whatever my random behind is being picky about I will just exit out of it without leaving a comment because I don't want to contribute to a girl thinking she isn't good enough just because there wasn't enough lighting. Now, if a set is bad or just ridiculous...like 15 pictures taken from different angles while the model never even moved, then I'll click "Not For Me" and explain myself. I guess, for the most part, I still feel like I shouldn't say anything if it won't be kind...or at least constructive.
I've only clicked it twice and it was more for "how did this set get accepted into MR" on the staff's part more than the model. If the staff has a set in MR with no sg logo and a photog watermark, I think they look bad for it.

No. SG don't own the pictures in MR, and there is absolutely no reason that every set in MR should have a logo on it. It explicitly states in the models FAQ that there is no need to put logos on a MR set before sending it in, as staff will put logos on if the set is purchased.
Also, you will never find a set on this site with a photographer's watermark. That's not how this site works.

Actually this one went up recently with the watermark, but I'm of two minds about that.

I'm almost the exact same. I also look for the Suicide Gilr "look". Their are lots of beautiful women out there but I'm here because I like tattooed, pierced women.
It's unfortunate but lighting can kill a set and I'll put that in the comment block as well as the multiple pics at slightly different angles. It's all personal preference in the end. I personally don't care for real skinny women but I look past that and take the overall sets poses and photography into account as well as what I consider an SG girl. I guess the bottom line is they put themselves out there to be judged and have to accept the outcome. My hat is off to each and every hopeful and SG for doing that. It takes a lot of courage IMHO.
