New Front Page - 03/09

Hi! We have launched a new front page for the site today with the hope of having more flexibility about what we feature to our visitors and members. The basic premise is: instead of having sections of the site devoted to each area of content like "new pics from hopefuls" that are updated by sg robots, we will have one main blog area that is updated by people: Missy, Rigel, Courtney, Me, Nicole. etc.

Lets' break down the sections:

TOP AREA

For members this is pretty much the same, the 5 most recent "sets of the day". This is the most prominent placement for our very best photos. They will stay on the page for the longest amount of time.

RIGHT AREA

This is a short list of the most popular parts of the community updated by most recent activity. Things only appear here for a short while usually, but if you want to scan what's going on in the sg community right now, this is the are for that.

LEFT AREA

Longtime members will remember v1 and v2 of Suicidegirls had a blog that Missy and I published to. This is a resurrection of that feature. We will choose what to feature there: Board threads, groups, member review pics, sg blogs, etc. The last few weeks of updates were selected by scripts and are mostly populated by member review sets, but don't judge the feature by that, I think you will find going forward it will be a wide variety of updates now that its controlled by humans instead of robots.

OTHER THOUGHTS

We hope by having more flexibility about what is featured on the front page, we can begin to de-emphasize hopefuls and member review sets. Not everything in member review will appear on the front page anymore, and most likely won't last on the front page as long. You can still click PICS and then the MEMBER REVIEW tab to see everything submitted to member review, but putting it two clicks away will most likely create a real separation between sets of the day and sets in member review. We also hope this allows us to emphasize the wide variety of blogs, videos, groups, threads, events and discussions that happen on this site every day.

Please give us a week or so to show you how we hope to use this feed, but as always your brutal criticisms are appreciated and will be read and used to further enhance the page.
