Fewer Taggers

Well, that would help solve the asshole taggers problem.

I think this is a great idea. Tagging is supposed to help users navigate a lot of content. If someone doesn't want to contribute to that effort, they shouldn't be allowed to tag.

How do you decide who can tag and who can't tag?

Right now, it's just a trial. I'd imagine the most trustworthy and oldest members probably get the privilage. Same as with some of the SGs.

I can still tag. Therefore, I am better than you.

I've been banned from tagging.....and I've never left a CITM. I call foul! Do Not Like.

It must be fairly random then because I can still tag.

I still think some kind of approval system for tags would be good. It's not just the mean tags that are a problem. Tags would be much for useful for finding stuff if there were a smaller set.

It could work somewhat like that: you want to tag a set, you first check if there's an existing tag that expresses what you mean. If there isn't, you create a new tag which has then to be approved by staff before it is used. To keep down the workload produced by such a system, people who notoriously created useless or hurtful tags could be ... wait for it ... banned from suggesting tags.

How do you reduce them? Do you make the wait for tagging longer? Do you select all SGs?
