After we have adjusted and updated the MySG page over the last couple months we'd like you're feedback on how you use it, if you use it, and what kind of changes you'd still like to see us make. I am also starting a separate thread here about suggestions for different kind of update options you'd like listed on the right hand side. Thanks for your honest criticism and feedback!

Well since you gave us our Friends' Blog Page back I don't even go to that page at all. It just doesn't suit the way I use SG.

I use it for friends blog updates. that's pretty much it (I have notifications for announcements and accounts expiring/activating and alias changes ticked too). I have the "show when a favourite SG has a set in MR" ticked, but it's a bit redundant because I often check the MR sets anyway.

When I click on something in the "Recent Activity" column I would like it to go to that specific item rather than just the top of "MY SG" or top of whatever page the activity occurs on.

I do look at the recent activity bar, it is always open.

I would like a direct link to the page where all the announcement rest. ("friends thread" it´s called I believe). there is only a complicated way to access that area atm I think.

other than that I just hope the ignore feature will work again soon smile

+1 to all of this

I like it, but would LOVE it if the ignore feature worked, and the feed was not constantly having to be fixed by staff/tech.

Also, when replying to a group post from the MySG page, I'd like it if once it posts to the group, it contained the original post you were replying to- just as if you were in the actual group itself, replying to a post.

I'd also like the option to "see less" of comments to a blog or announcement, after you've already clicked "show all replies"

Since it was implemented it I have pretty much only used MySG and my groups page to track things going on, especially when I'm super busy. It has made my time at SG much more efficient! I really really like being able to reply to journal comments just by replying on the MySG page and it being posted to the other user's journal.

Yes please! smile

It took over a month for mine to start working, but it's worked really well since then as a way to ensure I don't miss anything if I'm away from the site for a while.

That said, while it's nice being able to comment on announcements and other things, I still go to people's blogs to comment. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I like reading blogs on people's actual pages!

I think my favourite part of the right-hand side Recent Activity is that it makes use of some of the extra "real estate" in screen space on either side of the screen! (Does that make sense? My skillz aren't so 1337.)

I want that too. I really like both the feed and the My SG page, but the navigation FROM the feed TO the My SG page sucks.

Honestly, I rarely use the new My SG page. I never keep the recent activity feed open and I use the Friend's Blog Page link to read blogs. I like that I can see when someone has applied to my private group so I don't have to keep checking the group when there's no other activity going on in it. Pretty much all I use the page for is to look at announcements.

i don't use the "recent activity" bar.

my biggest gripe: bring pagination back for PMs please.

having to click "show next [10 | 50]" over and over again to get to old messages is nutty, especially if you navigate away from the page.

oh, and at first, i didn't really like the MySG page, because i tended to go to Friends' Blogs more, and it added an extra step. but over time, i've come to appreciate being able to read comments to those blogs all on the same page.

finally: where the fuck's my pony?!!?! wink

I don't use the MySG Page at all. I click on My SG to get to the link to my friends blogs, but this the only reason why you would see me clicking on it.

I click directly onto the groups to view all my group updates.
I click on to my Friend's blogs to catch up.

The announcement threads always seem to be cut off, so I never use those. I miss having friends threads. Not to mention somehow writing something in the friends list seemed more private.

I find the My SG page too busy and too complicated for what I want to do when I am on here. I want to catch up with friends, share in the groups, and see new hot sets.

Please make friends requests back to the old way. Clicking next 10 or 50 is really really slow loading and I have lots of FR to sift through. It's just assbackwards way of loading it. You can't get to a specific page you know you want to look at. You have to load all of them.

I don't use it at all anymore. I just have the direct link to my friends' blogs bookmarked and go directly to that page. I so rarely look at it that I didn't even realize you had put that link back on the MySG page.

I like and use My SG.

As other posters have noted, the ignore this event feature is not working.
I click it off and it jumps right back up.

That is one thing I would really like to see fixed.

I only use it to get to the Friends Blog link now. I hate how long it takes to load and all the randomness of it. I really loved the old My SG cuz it was grouped just the way I like it. But oh well.

I think the current format of the MYSG page is terrible for how I want to use SG. While there's some benefits to it such as announcements getting noticed where friends threads that we used before were commonly ignored, it makes it difficult to see other areas of the site that I'd prefer to focus more attention on. These areas will change each time I sit up to my computer.

There's workarounds for each issue such as the specific groups page, the friends blogs page, etc. but with the previous MYSG setup everything was all organized and integrated together smoothly and seamlessly (what used to be my MYSG page is now a bunch of bookmarks in my browser, not links on the MYSG page.) We didn't have to have workarounds. Now they're all just jumbled up into a big bag of activity that we have to rummage through.

It's great if you spend all day on SG and are on a fast computer with fast internet, but if you're on a less than optimal wireless connection or an older laptop, the page is slow, sluggish, and no matter what it's cluttered. I don't even like looking at it.

It's also redundant since there's the recent activity sidebar that does the exact same thing, just less robustly.

That, by the way, is something that's done quite right (with the exception of how that clicking on a recent activity entity links you to the MYSG entry instead of the actual entity that it's notifying you about.) Please don't axe the Recent Activity sidebar. It's totally rad. biggrin

I've just been having a play with it, and it takes me directly to whatever it's notifying me about. Weird.

I like the My SG page. It's easy to click on one of the My SG Feed Filters to temporarily filter out everything except that one type of activity. I do that most often to check journal updates by friends, bookmarked people, or favorite SGs. Two reasons I prefer this to the old Friends' Blogs Page is that it shows all of the updates instead of just the last one from each person, and with the preview type view, instead of seeing each entire journal entry, it's easier to look through it. Although I do occasionally go to the Friends' Blogs Page anyway, and it's clear that some people use it a lot.

With My SG you can see the other types of activity, like bookmarked board threads and bookmarked group threads, and that's real handy too, of course. It does seem kinda busy in a way, but now that I'm used to using it that doesn't really bother me.

I normally have the Recent Activity side bar closed, but I could see where some people would like it. It's good that you can open and close it at will.
