Can I ask how may people SG has working the posts? I know there are the owners of the site, the staff, the moderators, the SG's, the hopefuls and the members on here. But whose job is it to handle the posts?

It just seems like every post I see you have SG's, Hopefuls, and members chasitsing (sp?) each other for posting in the wrong place, double posting, etc. To me there is just too much policing going on.

Who cares if someone posts in the wrong thread, it was a mistake. Let it go or do you feel like it is your job to point it out. Maybe you should just let the SG staff do their job and leave others alone.

And before you ask, this did not happen to me.

Here are some examples of what I have seen:

Dude, there is a group for this.

Hey don;t post this here, post it on this thread

You are in the wrong place to post this.

There is a thread for this

Why don't you start a new thread?

Did you read the topic title, you are in the wrong place.

Are you sure about that?

Also, is there really something difficult about, say, listening to what people are saying and trying to post things in the appropriate forums?

"You posted this question in the wrong place" is the obvious answer.

But, you posted it in the right place. smile

People are generally trying to make the site run more smoothly. It isn't staff's job to follow every single member around and educate them about the search function or about how groups work. If people make a mistake and others point it out, hopefully they don't make that mistake again, and we have less clutter on the boards.

And that's a good thing.

We think it's a good thing. A self-policing community is something most websites would kill for.

Otherwise there'd be threads about tits in the cat lovers group and posts about anal sex on the Music board and posts about horticulture in the Sexaholics group.

... and then we'd just have to call it "Myspace."

The two places you pointed out do not have anything to do with posting in the wrong place. As far as I remember those threads were in regards to my group being denied, and then a thread about my anger with the site.

But thank you for doing exactly what I was getting at to prove my point. What is with this "Gotcha" attitude on this site. I guess what I should have said in my original post was to point out that actual phenomena, the "Gotcha" game.

The only thing that I find irritating is when someone corrects said incorrect poster and then 10 other people feel the need to jump on the bandwagon and say the same damn thing over and over. This happens in the Hopefuls group all the time.

Ok I can respect that. Thank you for the direct answer. But do you ever find it "overboard" when you see htese type of posts?

You pointed out to me before that poeple like to try and get your goat on this site. But doesn;t that ruin the experience of this site to be brow beaten over posting in the wrong place, at least when it is not very respectful?

Maybe I am too sensitive but the fact is you have staff in place, such as yourself, so why doesn;t the staff just deal with it and tell the members to let you guys do your job?

Okay, at this point, man, I gotta say you are really starting to come across as angry, demanding, and paranoid in every post you make. You don't walk into a bar you've never been in before and start demanding that the staff and other customers do things exactly the way you like them, do you?

Chill the fuck out and we'll all be happier.

This community does pretty darn well for itself. When staff sees people getting out of hand, we do something about it. We have no desire to rule with iron fists, and I don't see people getting "brow-beaten" very often.

A gentle nudge to post something in the right place isn't disrespectful, it's common courtesy and it help keeps things running smoothly.

So as long as I toe the line and do not point out anything bad on this site i am welcome to post? I thought member suggestions/comment were welcome?

And to my defense I have posted a good handful of posts that have nothing bad in them.

Okay, what you're asking for is for Tuffy and I to police every single one of the hundreds of thousands of posts made on this website every week, and for every single one of the members of this website to change their behavior to suit your expectations.

Do you see how this might be considered a bit unreasonable request?

If you do see it as reasonable, how the holy hell did you hack it in the military, man?

People point out things they dislike about SG all the time. Read more threads around here sometime.

Also, you're welcome to post as much as you want about how you want things run around here. But we're welcome to tell you what we think about it, too.

No that is not what I am asking for. I did not in any manner say I want things to go my way, did I?

All I did was bring up something that I find frustrating and now, once again, I get beaten down on the boards over pointing something out. So the point has been made, don't post anything on the boards that has anything negative against SG. No probelm.

I also find it amusing that everytime I post something minorly negative, you are quick to swoop down and tell me I am wrong.

As has been said, people criticize this site without any trouble all the time.

The problem is that it isn't "bad" or rude for people to point out when someone new might be posting something in the wrong forum or group, or to point people to features that might help them have a better experience here. Someone saying "hey, there's a group/thread for this already" isn't offensive, and getting offended by it is...kind of an overreaction.

There is nothing wrong with people telling someone they posted in the wrong place and all of that. That is how people learn and it keeps the site organized as Shalome has already pointed out. It is rude when people point it out over and over again just as Dot has stated. However, it is equally rude when people approach these things except for the pointing the same thing out over and over) in an angry manner. I'm sorry if you felt that people were being rude to you or anything of the sort, but you can choose to not post on the boards and just post in people's blogs and on the sets. I understand you want to be active, but if it really bothers you that much, then maybe you should consider the alternative. Learn how to ignore obnoxious and rude posts. There will be rude people wherever you go, whether it be online or offline. This website is no different.

If it is really that big of an issue with you and you do not like how the website is run then you have the option to cancel your membership. You have the ability to stop this from happening. I'm not trying to be rude or anyting (even though it will come off that way), but do not sit and complain about how a website is run when you have the option to never come back and not give them your money. It is as simple as that.

***Edited to add***

My god, you are overreacting. No one told you not to post anything negative about SG. If the site didn't listen to members then it wouldn't be what it is today. There is a difference between pointing out what there is room to improve and starting drama. It sounds to me you came on here expecting staff to say "Oh!! Okay we will change things just for one single member's benefit." They have to do what is good for the majority, not just you. You're not the only one with an opinion around here. We are simply telling you ours as you have told yours.

Yes you did help me through my issues, and I appreciate now as I did before. But it still seems to me that if you say something negative on these boards against SG then you get scolded almost immediately.

Hey but what do I know. I am just a newbie who throws temper tantrums. I'll make sure to tell the VA to give me anti temper tantrum pills next time I go down there, HAHA

You can't say anything negative here because you haven't earned the trust and respect of this community yet. Once you've been around awhile and people know who you are and what you're about people will understand a bit more where your ideas and opinions are coming from. As it stands now, you're the new kid on the block and you don't have any sway around these parts yet.
