Maybe one of the good things about MR is such sets don't really have to be saved for holidays anymore.

but not everyone on the site sees MR. so a set going up on the front page is different than a set going up in MR. also, no-one gets paid for a MR set until it goes up on the front page.

no, i agree. i'm just saying if so many girls want to see sets like this, they should do some! they don't have to wait for halloween or anything. if that makes sense.

ah, ok...i mis-understood what you were saying. no worries.

the only issue with dark sets is that historically they don't do as well overall as people would think. those who like them, like them a whole lot. but those who don't like darker sets, really don't like them and don't comment or click on them. several well done "dark" sets hit the front page in the last couple months and didn't do overly well in comment counts (the only way i can judge how a set does with the members - i know it's not all about comment counts, but they are a good trend/penetration indicator). the casper set is a good example - great set, cool photography, creepy theme...hasn't broken 700 comments. frown

really? ouch. that sucks. so unless someone remembers that occurred, it will always show as not doing as well as it should have. i had no idea.

Even though I rather liked both sets that went up on that day, I really thought Salome had a winner with hers. And although Cherry's right in that most people's Halloween isn't about gore and guts, masks and disguises aren't what that date is about for some of us either and it just seems to me a horror-themed set (or more) would have worked perfectly, especially one that was so well put together.

So yeah. Nothing against the ones that made it, but I still found that one being absent rather disappointing.

I don't understand why more sets couldn't have gone up - why couldn't darker sets like
Salome The Devil's work go up in addition to the sets by Riae Radeo and Casper ? Why limit Halloween to 3 sets?

And I guess I might not understand how MR works, but seems to me saying if people like darker sets they can see them anytime isn't quite OK, given that I thought MR means the photographer and model haven't gotten paid for the sets yet?

How is that a solution?

Hey you know what, it would've been nice to have seen Syndi's awesome set go up for our election and that didn't happen. Let's move on.

Um, this is a thread for people who are interested in the how and why of Halloween sets being chosen. You know, because it defines the site in part for members, and it is how the photographers and models make their living.

Move on is a different organization.

Even though it's past Halloween, I hope staff will still put Salome -- The Devil's Work on the front page, especially after some of the comments on this thread. It's not a Halloween themed set anyway, it's a horror movie themed / dark set, so any time would be a good time for it to go live. smile

There were lots of wonderful sets that would've been perfect for halloween. I only hope that the sets that didn't get chosen still have a chance to go up.

When Casper told me that her set was queued, it was, like, a month before Halloween. I remember thinking, "great! Our set got picked up... but shit, that seems so far away." When we shot it, we weren't thinking about Halloween. It was just some random idea that I spruced up while I was biking to work. It was tons of fun to shoot, and just before 500-ish comments disappeared from the set, the negative feedback I was getting on the set was that it was too disturbing/creepy. I feel like our intentions were a success.

Her set went into MR like a day or two before the election. That's a very small time frame you are demanding action in when people are off getting ready to vote! Hopefully we will see it on inauguration day.
