I think you are crunching numbers too much. Staff could just not like a set even if it is popular.

There's no exact numbers for it, it seems.

Yup yup ^^^

I doubt any amount of popularity would matter if staff simply doesn't like a set or doesn't feel it's beneficial for the site.

what think the member is not important?
I saw set of no good quality and under the 500 comments to go to home page (set in Member Review).
Ellette's set is made by staff photographer and much more beautiful than the other set accepted by MR.
When I speak with the member ,many do not like the set in home .
So,why call it "Member Review"?
You can call "second chance of the STAFF " because what think the member is not important.

There obviously is no set number in mr hun.... even if members like it greatly it may not show up on the front page... if staff feels it is for the site they will buy it eventually... if not...there is nothing that we can do. Just be patient...which sucks but it is how things work around here and hope for the best. smile biggrin

Dont give up though. You are creative and def have what it takes.

Just to make things clear, I'm not saying my set should get accepted..(just in case, ppl could have bad interpreted it).
So, basically the first post on this thread isn't that truth then... is all about the staff, right? In that case, what is it you look for? Is there some girls you just simply don't like and even if they do a very nice set they will never get accepted?
Sorry for being so curious, but I'd like to know how this whole thing works smile.

I'm sure this has been gone through, but does amount of tattoos or piercings or general "alternative" features make a big difference in what is accepted?

I don't think it's about that really, the best two words that sum up how I think SG's are chosen is "sex appeal".

i enjoy watching fellow hopefuls post sets and watch the ones that turn pink, and especially having a set in MR right now peeks my curiosity as to the criteria that really does it-

but, i think if the science was too exact... if there was no mystical hand of "the counsel" at work- there would be no excitement in turning pink. i would fear it would become too much of a math problem(i.e.- "i only need this many more comments, blog or board friends!") instead of an actual "hope". which i definitely feel it is now. i know everytime someone tells me they think my set should go pink, i like to think- "i wonder if it will."

so thats my take on how it feels to be in the middle of it right now.

I agree... the elements of hope and surprise make it exciting. Especially when one is bought after months, not just right away. smile

Agreed. Just look at Caine's set, it doesn't have the highest percentage of loved it's and was purchased almost straight away after it went into MR with around 300+ comments.

At the end of the day it's still staff's choice. Which in a way I'm grateful for cos it the end it means no matter how much hopezillas whore themselves and spam add friends, if a set's not slick enough then it won't go up. But then again it annoys me and makes me wonder why they can't just have purchased these great sets straight from SR in the first place...

I think there must just be some sets that no matter how many comments it gets or % of I loved it, if staff dont feel its right for the front page it will never be bought, im not implying your set hunny I just mean in general

I was wondering if staff take into account when sets go into MR, like if they go up at the weekend there likely to get a lower comment count?

Valid point. I never thought of that. I mean, isn't that why sets the last week of December during holidays were going on front page for a full day? And now weekend front page sets are the same way.

I have noticed that some Hopefuls will post a couple different sets MR. I only have one set in MR, should I be planning another one for the MR section or am I ok with just one for now?

This question would probably be better suited to the SG Hopefuls or Hopefuls Only Groups, not this thread smile

But to answer your question quickly to stop this thread going off topic:

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

It's generally the case that a Hopeful will only have one set in MR at a time, although this has changed due to the sheer length of the MR queue for Hopefuls. Whilst there is no rule against you having more than one set in MR at any one time, general opinion seems to be it's best to see how one set is received before shooting/submitting another.

Yeah, you are right Bow. Thanks kiss .
Anyway, I think, that if staff thinks they are never gonna accept your set, then they should let you know, at some point. I mean it doesn't matter if they tell u after 3 months, but the thing is that they should. I just think it's not fair for us to be waiting for a year, and then say, umm okay, maybe now I should think (but it is still not sure) that my set ain't gonna get bought.
Why don't staff let know hopefuls, and all sets in MR in general, if they are never gonna get accepted?

Staff has no obligation to tell us whether or not they're ever going to do anything. There are SO many Hopefuls, and making a definite decision and letting all the girls know would take up even more time. It's not in their best interest to do this. They ARE a business, but they are also human beings capable of reconsiderations and changing their minds about girls/sets from time to time.

And member review is exactly what it says it is-- it gives members a chance to voice feedback and "review" our sets. It isn't American Idol... members don't have the final say or vote as to who makes it to the front page. There will never be an exact science.

Yes Miri, you are right! I learned very quickly that MR is not a popularity contest. The staff decides whether or not to buy a set based on many things, that are all outlined in like, 10000 threads. MR helps staff get feedback about what kinds of girls they like to see more of, less of, etc. If there's an overwhelming response to a girl's set in MR, sometimes, the staff will look at this and take it into consideration. Look at Kiley's set, "Catch of the Day". She had so many comments, and so many people rooting for her, and maybe that's one of the reasons staff made her an SG. But--that's not the only reason. Sigh. Hang in there, girls. kiss
