Just break that one down for me please. Beacuse if she isn't an uggo..well, then why "quite frankly it is the girl."?
And why is she and her photos a waste of time?
Because alot of the girls, and it has been said many times before i opened my mouth, that they just don't look at the site enough to know what is acceptable and what is not. And it's their attitude as well.

I hate it.
Too many stupid sets are getting into member review and for some crazy ass reason people love them. I don't want to look at someone who has just woken up and decided to get naked in their messy ass house without bathing.
Seriously it should only be sets that are of fucking great quality that get into member review.
People on other sites (myspace/modeling sites etc) make fun of member review and the shit sets that are in it.
It's boring seeing a set that has been in member review for a few weeks on the main page anyway.
I'll always go for staff review before member review.
And the thing about more creative sets, fuck that. Creative sets should be accepted anyway, as should darker sets. Why should boring bed or shower sets always get accepted?
I joined the site cause I wanted to see hot punk chicks and girls being all dark and creepy. Or being cute and fun in costumes and fun make up.
*this angry post could be due to lack of licorice*

Also, the girls that have their sets declined for member review - man, they keep on trying! I get so many emails asking why their set won't be posted and that they want a shot with the members and what can they do to improve. You'd be surprised at the number of girls who really want their sets to be seen!
Create a three-tier system.
1. Sets submitted to staff for staff review.
2. Sets submitted to Member Review for (as the name suggests) member review, subject to staff quality control.
3. Sets submitted to, and viewable through, the Hopefuls group as Test Sets.
Be stringent on the girls/shots allowed into MR, and advise all the other girls who don't make the cut to submit to the Test Set area in SG Hopefuls for feedback there. Test Sets are only viewable to members of Hopefuls, and are not on the front page. Girls can also host their test sets in their own members pics area if they wish.
Basically you are describing the old process. "Rejected? Post in hopefuls and try again later!" But with a MR option inbetween.
I think it could work.
Here's staff picks.
Here's what staff is seriously considering and letting members decide.
Here's the no way in hell sets sent to the hopefuls group for critique but will not ever be accepted.
I like it.

I don't think it's about "uggos" either. I think there are girls who, even with a better person behind the camera, still don't quite understand the standard expected of a set on SG.
It can be about poses. It can be about facial expressions. It can be about clutter in the background of the shot.*
I have several sub-categories in the Hopefullzilla meta-category. These include the Drama Queens ("Me me me me me me me!"), the Entitlement Princesses ("I deserve to be a Suicidegirl!" -- the alt-porn equivalents of the "I am America's Next Top Model.") ... and the Clueless Hopefuls, who have no idea why they get such critical commentary on their poor quality sets.
Hence my idea of the Test Sets -- those that are not up to true MR standards, but (if the girl is not completely clueless and is willing to listen to reason) will help the girl learn based on the feedback gained through exposure in the Hopefuls Group.

In particular, it's created a fast-track process for popular SGs to get sets up quickly, avoiding the whole long-set-queue issue.
Personally, I think that benefits popular girls but kind of defeats the purpose of the MR system.
This is my absolute biggest complaint about the MR system. I'll see sets from more popular girls show up there and it's not really a question of "if" they will go up but instead becomes a question of "when".

SEP 10, 2008 01:24 AM
MR gives me the feeling I can't ever have a set on frontpage again.
Why?
Because being in MR between Amina, Dot and Rei (no offense at all) WHO on earth would look at my set when the "popular" girls have sets up and get like 300 comments on the first day? Everybody checks their page daily to catch a glimpse of a new piece of photography.
Of course staff has to buy those sets if they bring in lots of kicks for the site.
This makes alot of good sets rot away in MR and I don't like it.
So. Yeah- not really diggin it BUT I liked the fact that sets can actually be on the site somewhere without waiting for a year to go live.
But then again we don't get paid for it AND have to keep the set up for 3 months. that's whats buggin me greatly. I don't get paid so I should be allowed to decide how long the set stays up. Also we should be able to delete individual pics fron the set aswell. Common you can fix that.
Ok that's enough rambling for now...

If a girl has a set up member review that she put a lot of effort into and it is obvioulsy a quality set, why shouldnt it go up?
Even if she did have a set up the month before? If her sets consistently get hundreds of comments from members and are continually surpassing the quality of the usual sets, why shouldn't it be bought?
Doesn't it show what the members what?

I'm not saying that they shouldn't go up. If they're good sets, sure, put them up. It just doesn't really seem necessary for them to go through review.
Even if she did have a set up the month before?
This, however, I completely disagree with.

I personally don't see why people don't like girls having the opportunity of having sets go up with a month apart. Like Amina said, if the girl is continuously producing amazing sets with really good themes and she is super hot, why shouldn't she have a set every month? This bit baffles me... especially because the numbers prove that it's what members on average want.
I think with this kind of thing there will always be lovers and some people who don't like it for one reason or another.
My ONLY real gripe with member review:
I would like to see some sets that don't necessarily get the most comments or the most loved from members but are clearly well produced and creative sets with lots of effort put in.
I feel there are a few sets that aren't the most popular but are still some of the "best" sets (in terms of production/effort/creativity/looks) that have been overlooked and I'd like to see them make the front page as a way to mix it up.
Otherwise, I am really enjoying member review. When I feel like I want surprises, I just don't look at Member Review for a week or so and only check the front page, then to me it is just like the old way, surprises and all.
Besides, I am still confident that in the future more sets will be purchased through Staff Review to keep the element of surprise.
I do have one suggestion - I think that each girl (whether SG or Hopeful) should only be able to have one set in the Member Review queue at a time. I think this is less of an issue lately, but it sometimes happens and I think she should just hold onto later sets until she finds out if the first set is bought or not.
Edit: I also like TFOK and Ridley's suggestion that some hopefuls sets go to the hopefuls group and those girls get 3 month memberships or something. The length of the hopefuls queue makes me not want to shoot new girls simply because it will be over two months before I know if her set will be accepted.
Although, having said this, I realise it is probably really difficult to curate and decide who gets to go into Member Review and who doesn't.

Every time a set goes up which is from a girl that has a set up every 3 months anyway, a set from a girl that has the chance to make one set per year with a staff photographer and has really put her heart into it, rots away in MR.

I disagree... I don't see why that girl having a set up frequently would lessen someone else's chances?
I don't really want to argue about it, I'm just unfortunately not seeing the same logic.
I definitely agree that some sets get over looked by members but I don't think it's the fault of the girls who's sets go up very often. I think if anything it could be down to all kinds of things such as:
- the preview pic the girl chooses
- the whims of the members on that day (what kind of hot photos are they looking for)
- the way the thumbnails look (if they are enticing or not)
- if the girl is the type of girl members love
- if the theme is something the members love or hate
- if the members happen to love or hate the lighting
- if the members randomly choose to click on the "wrong" photos of the set and gets bored quickly or thinks it's not hot (because i am sure a lot of members don't view sets all the way from the first to last photo)
I could go on, but all I'm trying to say is there are many more variables involved rather than just "Oh, my set was next to *insert hot girl's name here* It'll never get accepted" ![]()

I really, really enjoy the aspect of MR that allows excellent creative sets like NicoleLees joker set. This is awesome.
However, (and this is just because I'm butthurt, probably) I still don't get staff's criteria for picking certain sets from MR to go live. While some sets have loads of comments and is very loved by members, they just won't get bought. I thought that one of the points of MR was that the members had a say in what gets picked. I don't get that feeling at all.
While the diversity in themes have gone up, the diversity in girls have gone down.
I also KINDA agree that as a less popular SG, it sucks having a set drown between awesome, cool sets from popular ladies with access to our great staff photographers. I get to shoot a set maybe once every two years with a staff photog because I can't afford to spend hundreds of bucks on plane tickets all the time, and then I feel my set just drowns
This is not the more popular ladies' fault at all, let me make that clear.

Either way they asked for opinions and this was mine.
When I get back home later the thread will have like 25 pages and even more opinions. Too much for me to read ^^

I'm personally hoping lots of paying members that particularly like to look at sets read and post to this thread, I think it will be a great help and interest to all SGs to see how they feel about it. ![]()
