I'd like to see more of these sets too.
It's very rare I look at new girls now. No disrespect to anyone but the sets seem too 'soft' and I don't see much personality/attitude.

You made me giggle some times while reading this thread.
Your fanatics against "the myspace crowd" remind me of Ultima Online and FF XI Players ranting about "World of Warcraft / Blizzard kiddies". - Uh, never mind, Posh. wink
Just want to say, that this might be a stereotype that holds not true for all of them (but I don't know. Even through I'm "young member", I don't know much more about myspace then the fact that it exists).

I also like bed and bathroom sets, especially when I see a reason why this set was shot in the bet or bathroom: Cuddle or Pink Ice.
(As opposed to seeing it shot in the bath / bedroom because it is easy and simple)

I think variety was the best catchword.
Dark Goth, Colorful Pop, Glamer Girls, Natural Beauties in nature ... or even disturbing emo-chic every third month, just be eXtrem.

Edith says: I'm not to sure about the gender bending thing for me, but I would not mind.
And I'm an old perv (at my young age allready), so I say Yay to young girls. But even then, there is at least 1 SG where I would say: Give her 2 more years to develop ... so whatever ...

Ya'll need to get in there and comment on the dark sets, the sets you like, the hopefuls sets with bigger girls and girls of color and older girls and great ideas. The reason we are missing all these kickass things is because they don't get as much response as the cute, friendly, pretty sets.

I'd like to see the girls remember that we are SG's, and that means we're not supposed to give a fuck what anyone else wants. Especially now -rejection just isn't the end of the world.

Make a set you love, and damn the torpedoes.

My 2 cents.

You rock.

+1
im not a fan.
i much rather girls who were on here for a while and applied were accepted or if they are accepted straight off they take some time to get into the community etc before the set goes live.

What Nixon said.

I also agree with what others have said that more participation would be great from girls before they become SGs and while they are SGs. I think in the past requiring a certain amount of participation didn't work, but with the Hopefuls/Member Review section up and with SCS, I think it's important that girls don't become SGs if they couldn't give two shits about the site.

A lot of people miss the community aspect of the site and want that back. I think that we won't be able to make a good community, or maintain one, if SGs are going up with one single journal entry (or, as Tuffy says, one journal entry begging for comments on their set), and if they have no plans to participate at all on this site. If a girl wants to get naked on the Internet but never show one tiny bit of her personality on the site, maybe this isn't the right place for her!

Man, "more spread teh leg" is so MySpace.

The proper old-school creepy SG perv response to the question "What would you like to see on SG?" is "Olivia's nipples".

I want sets that have themes that tell stories, with props. Also multi regional sets would rock!! I want dark, morbid, blood and weapons. I also want real classic pin up style sets, burlesque, and corsets. Also more PSW for the FTW.

please excuse my rant:

The "MySpaciness" trend has really gotten depressing for me. Maybe it's just my age showing. Maybe it's the feeling that something has been lost. The substance, the true politics, the deep community, the real world/interweb crossover. The involvement of the SGs in a community that somehow made the site feel less voyeuristic & more of a forum for expression. These are some of the things that removed the objectification stigma from this particular "porn" site.

As to sets... Well, it would be nice to see something other than content that feels like a girl with a camera, a desire for ego stroking via internet nudity & a gift certificate to Hot-Topic. We could either continue to put up sets because of baseline porn content or get back to supporting artistic expression, individual beauty & contribution to the community as a whole.

For me, it's not about darker vs. lighter or bedroom vs. bathtub or latex & leather vs. flowers & puppies. It's about seeing some truth revealed. It may be the truth of who the SG is as a human being. It could be the truth of the photographers particular perspective & vision. It could be the truth of my own subjective take on the world around me. At it's core... just the truth of that connection between artist & observer.

Less quantity, more quality. Less vapid, more value. More of the "come for the nudity, stay for the community" vibe. Remember the "pre-HBO" dividing line? Now there seems to be a "pre-MySpace" division forming.

Sorry for the rant... sorry I couldn't be more specific.

As a general principle. I'd be happy to see absolutely no sets purchased from Hopefuls who couldn't find their way to this thread without being guided to it, because they're too busy obsessing in the Hopefuls group the entire time they're logged in to SG.

id like to see more sets that are about the creativity of the girl in them. i know its all well and good to want to see 'natural' and 'real' sets but sometimes i think its natural to wear a ton of makeup. like thats natural to me. wearing very little is un-natural to me.

id like sets that dont follow a trend and really show you what that girl is about, they are her ideas.

id also like sets to be sexy. some themes are great but they dont look sexual and i think thats important, to be sexy whilst being creative.

im not sure what the whole 'myspace' thing is about since that site doesnt allow nudity, so i cant join that debate.

i dont necessarily think loads of tattoos and piercings = an amazing set but i do think the girl should be unusual, striking and beautiful. eg Dot isnt tatooed or heavily pierced but has an amazing sense of style and who she is. the fact that she takes all her own pics and does it well is also very sexy to me.

so id like to see sets that reflect personality, whatever sides of that personality they may be. x x

iiii am really appreciating this thread...

what i hear a lot of people are saying also holds true for me. lots of bedroom and bathroom sets are being accepted. its easy to do, friendly to the eye, easy to touch up, ect
however its not creative, been done a million times and is no better (infact worse, because its less interesting) than a lot of the trend report sets...

as for the type of girls i'd like to see, well.. i'd like to see sincerity .. i dont care if the girls are young or old, or if they have lots of tattoos or piercings.. (granted some of these things turn me on more than others) .. i'd really just like the girl to try to portray who they are, much rather than have them try to fit in to a cookie cutter 'goth, emo, punk alt' image ... which for me is more what sg is about. less trying to be something your not and more embracing the beauty that everyone has. if the girl is not right for the site then she's not right for the site, but i'd rather see a lot of natural girls than a whole bunch of trendy bandwagon jumper girls.

the sets themselves.. well.. screw the guidelines IMO... i love the cheesy fake blood sets.. the old corset, burlesque sets, the middle of the forest/nowhere sets, ect. colorful anime sets and artistic stuff is awesome, as well as multi sets.

i'd love to hear what you guys mean by 'darker sets' ... sounds like fun but just wondering what they would entail to you guys..

again... thanks for this thread.. its given me a lot of thought as to what i should submit next

I'm reposting bits of posts I made elsewhere.

I personally think that all hopefuls should submit to member review OR be an active member first. If it's a good enough set, staff will pick it up anyways, but the girl should have to be evaluated a bit beyond her pictures...get to know what the site is about and we can all see how she handles herself here. Maybe if the hopeful was a member for a certain period of time first, they could bypass this step, but....
to maintain the integrity of the SG image, I think it's important that girls can handle themselves is a proper manner and that they should be able to reveal interesting things about themselves. I don't know if that makes sense.

There could be a clause of being a member for at least three months before submitting a set to staff. i don't know. screen harder for the first stage of acceptance and give those girls a free three month membership or something...

Definitely some of my favorites weren't members first, but I just think the site is so different now. So many girls upload sets without having ever seen what the community is about... I just feel that now, with so much influx from myspace and "SuicideGirl" being some kind of status marker, it benefits us to know as much about the girls as we can rather than just getting photos from someone who wants to use the last name Suicide on myspace. I also think it would drastically improve the quality of first set submission. If a girl wants to be an SG now, she's probably want to be in three months, too...

Maybe it's not the ideal situation, but I don't know, I'd somehow like to work to maintain the integrity of keeping really interesting girls who fit the mission statement of the company, and sometimes that's hard to tell from photos... I don't think tattoos = alternative or unmoddified = unalternative, so it's nice to have some kind of sense of the girl beyond just her images.

Lots of people have been talking about reinstating interviews for similar reasons, but I don't think that would work at all.

I don't even mean that they have to be crazy active, just that we'd be able to see an interesting profile and that they can handle themselves. We weed out the crazy "hopefulzillas" by their behavior on the site, but we can't do that unless they're here first.

I posted that mainly because of the interrelatedness of 'knowing who a girl is' and 'having a set that portrays the girl's unique self and personality'

but sorry if it was off topic.

I'd like it if girls were less restricted on their costuming/make-up choices. I know heavy make-up isn't NOT allowed and crazy costumes aren't banned either, but I think the point should be more to encourage models to do what is most "them". Some girls never wear more than some mascara and chapstick while others may not feel comfortable leaving the house without crazy lip color and eyes done up in three shades of blue.. to me I think it's important that the girl looks comfortable and like "herself" rather than feel forced to conform to visual standards regarding choice of make-up (I understand issues with foundation and cake-y make-up, but I'm talking crazy eye make-up and vibrant lips, etc), or otherwise. As far as models go, I will echo what other people have said-- I want more older models, I want more plus-sized models, and I want a wider range of ethnicity.

For Sets, I want to see more multi sets where the girls aren't just making out with eachother.. don't get me wrong, I like some of those sets a lot but there are some sets like the hopeful set, "The Boob-i-que" that I absolutely adored and the girls weren't all over eachother.

I'd like more clear themes that tell a story as well.. with a beginning, middle, and ending. It doesn't even have to be a HUGE to do, but even like Suri's newest set making pottery had a straightforward story to it and it came out absolutely beautiful.

Finally, I'd like more playful sets. I happen to like it when girls laugh, make some silly faces, etc during sets. I understand that the pictures need to be visually appealing but in some sets like "Go Vegan" I think the fact that there wasn't much of an effort to hide expressiveness, etc was a huge plus. I don't like it when I look at the set and all I see is a very serious or very carefully arranged face.. it makes it feel pre-packaged and almost like the girl in her natural element somehow isn't pretty enough. Obviously not every shot should be a goofy face but more smiles in general would be good in my book.

I would like to see more emotion in the photos like most models have to do also more of the styles of clothes they wear that goes with each ones personality like if there Gothic, Punk , or into vampires and such how they would dress . Hope that clear enough . Its hard to explain what I mean.....

I completely agree with everything you just said. I looooooove wearing crazy-ass makeup and I'd love to see more girls feel comfortable going wild with an eyeshadow pallet without fear of breaking any set "rules"
