ok my question, and this may be stupid-do the theme weeks apply to sg's only? like how exactly would the picking of the sets happen?
is the theme announced before hand, and sets sent in
or are the sets to be picked from the queue depending on the theme?
as someone whose first set went up in a themed week of a themed season (blonde week of new girl spring) and last set went up on a themed day (cameras!), i can tell you that normaily it is based on what is available in an attempt to clear out the enormous queue of sets that have already been accepted. many girls have been waiting over a year for their accepted sets to go up. this is a really good way to deal with long waiting sets and repeat themes. ("hey, we got this really great camping set today... wait, don't we already have a bunch of hiking/camping/canoeing sets waiting to go up? awesome, theme day!")
that being said, i'm sure the hopeful set section plays some part in it. it's really a wonderful tool and if an amazing set is submitted to hopefuls, especially if it is submitted there instead of to HQ, i would imagine it may tickle someone's fancy and be worked into a theme week... if it fit.
themes are rarely announced to SG's, with a few exceptions like when they wanted natural, soft bed sets a year or two ago. however, we are getting heads ups for monthly contests. (see the $1000 February contest winners thread) and of course, holiday sets are a bit predictable. though announcements aren't made, it's common sense that holiday sets are encouraged (at least 30 days prior to the holiday).
I'd like to see more black&white, experimental photography, self-shot sets and heavily themed sets. All these are my favourites and aren't around so much anymore
If we were to do like...an anime week or a comic book character theme week (mangas qualify as comics), I'd revoke my status of no longer shooting sets and shoot a Hell Girl (Jigoko Shoujo) or NANA set.

another theme week of girls who haven't had sets in a really long time
a theme week of 2nd sets, for all girls that only have one set up
I completely agree. Personally speaking, I'd prefer this a lot over seeing sets of a handful of girls over and over.
i don't really see why you would automatically make that assumption. there are a lot of SuicideGirls who are very active on the site but rarely ever have sets go up.
I hope we see a new Vanessa set next week. That girl defines "community icon".

Oh dear I wanna see you in a Nana set!!! °o°

I dont think themes were announced before last time around. And also I think theme weeks should be SG only, there are hundreds of SG sets waiting to go up to keep this going for a while, and hopefuls can already participate in the competitions and stuff.
I would love to see regional days or weeks, like the Russian weekend we had a while back. Chicago girls comes to mind, or French girls, etc.
I would like to see more dark sets please! Both shadow-dark and content-dark. "Most shocking set" is a good start, but I'd like dark sets brought back from theme-day exile and back into the regular rotation.
I'd be curious to see what happened if staff picked a weird theme and let girls have a go. Let's say the theme is pickles, or metal, or air. I bet some of the girls here would come up with some really creative stuff.
