I believe he is referring to the increasing number of girls who are selling prints, but making fun of the fact you can print them from your desk top for free as opposed to paying the girls for their prints.

while i fully appreciate the entrepreneurial spirit, the new trend in tugging on the heartstrings (usually health/pet related) leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

...admittedly, im kind of a dick like that. blush

Uhhhh... I think he's trying to say: SG's who are selling "prints" are just beggin' for cash. Instead of buying "prints," you can just use your computer to save the photo and then use your printer to print the "print" and then you're golden.

Am I right?

I mean, it's totally ludicrous, but that's what he's trying to say....

Dood... The "prints" are special. They are photographs, not whatever crapola your printer may or may not be able to provide (down with the digital age!). Besides, most are autographed or somehow else customized. And it's not like panhandling, the girls are selling their image, which by all accounts, is theirs....

Not sure if I read you correctly, but that's the way I took it. Sorry if I have been mistaken. whatever

Although, I do agree with him in one respect... It is kind of weird to pitch the "mom's in the hospital" or "puppy got hit by car" - so buy my naked pics... That's kind of weird. Makes me kind of have to shudder the idea from my head after the thought has passed. Yeah... Definitely creepy....

panhandling is asking for money with no promise of giving back anything in return.

the girls who are selling their prints are providing a tangible product in return for your money. and most of the print offers i've seen have been made in their personal journals. i see no problem with this. i'm not sure why it's leaving a "bad taste" in your mouth.

Maybe he tried to eat the prints? Printer ink doesn't taste too good, I hear...

I am all for everyone trying to make a buck in any honest way. If that honest way is a service than fine, if it is a good, especially art, then kudos for making something of quality that people want to have.

I'm often called an asshole, and I admit I am pretty crass, but I totally support the peddling of prints. Let it be money for grandma's new kidney or money for grass, its all gravy (vegetarian gravy of course) to me.

Now, if the proceeds were going to the National Republican Convention then maybe I would whistle another tune ;-) But seriously, whatever the cause, maybe I might even drop a dime or 150 on some quality prints of some pretty ladies taken by skilled photographers.

Huzzah!

people ask me if they can buy prints all the time. i was never keen on the idea but after receiving so many inquiries about it, i decided to start doing formal print sales. i'm assuming that a lot of other SGs have had similar experiences. to be honest, after shipping costs i don't even end up making much of a profit. i think you are being rather presumptuous..

better than resorting to selling drugs or worse.

lets not get hasty, I mean, if you started throwing in a print of Dot with a half eight I bet you'd see sales soar...I mean, if your into that sorta thing, that I have heard about, and never seen.

i dont have a problem with models selling prints of images i have already paid to view. the personal touch is nice and maybe i dont have a printer or good paper. maybe they are offering images that are not available on sg (even better).

i think models would be able to sell more prints without the "i really need money for my meds/sick cat/had a bad cold and couldn't go to work" stories.

The SG's are not allowed to ask for financial help from members. They can sell stuff.

Read the girls faq. You might learn something.

Yeah... Looking at it now, I don't want to put words into homey's mouth, but I think he's more bent by the fact of thepromotions being a sob story, which is, as I said, kind of weird.

But only if they're not true and are just to sell some prints... I mean, what if this girl or that needed emergency surgery or some shit and offered prints as a means to recuperate the costs of a lifesaving surgery? That's not panhandling, dude. That's what happens when you don't have socialized medicine.

Who cares really? It's a consumer's market. If you don't want them, don't buy them. It's not like it's cigarettes or anything, right? lol!

It really doesn't. Neither does that blueish xerox ink. frown

They have, though, plenty of times.. which you probably know since you've been around for awhile. But way to pull out the FAQ card.

I haven't heard "crapola" in years! Hahaha, well you have a point about the printers but in my case it's different... I work in a printing shop with a $20,000 Docutech photo printer along with other very expesive printing machines and tools like cutters and such... but as the nice guy that I am I would never do that I'll just buy the prints wink

more accurately, the SG wishlist is the new panhandling.

not that it matters.
