"Wrongly presupposes that all the girls are thin"

I've been a member since quite early on, and I haven't posted before, so please be gentle...

At the risk of flogging a dead horse that might already have had the skin flayed off, I want to take exception to one element of the recent Willamette Week story. The article says:

"Many [applicants] write in saying they want to be the first 'fat chick' on the site, a tired challenge which Veronica says wrongly presupposes that all the girls are thin."

I don't think that it's wrong to presuppose that all the girls on SG are thin. I think they are, at least in my somewhat jaded view. And that's not necessarily a bad thing. I'd just like to see more variation in body type.

Honestly, if there is any real issue that I have with the site it is just that -- the models are all gorgeous (and articulate and intelligent as well, which I think is just as important), but they range from very thin to somewhat curvy, and those of us who like women with larger curves don't have as much to choose from.

I don't know if I'm alone in this, but I would dearly love to see more models in the Mae West tradition. Hell, I just saw "Chicago" and decided that Queen Latifah was one of the sexiest women on the planet, but she's not of the type that would fit in at SG, even if she had the requisite glasses or tattoos.

I think we need more members who look like extras from the Sopranos with bad Twisted Sister hairdos.

While there are certainly very slightly built girls here and none over 200 pounds (AFIK, it really is damn near impossible to tell in a photo), as the Queen is, thats not the same thats not the same as all the girls being thin. Theyre not. Theyre a dozen women at least here who you'd *never* see on a mainstream porn site or magazine or film because they don't fit the idealized fantasy mold we deal with now. Thats not to say that the site couldn't stand to have more of them or even bigger girls if they are a fit for the site, but that doesn't make them thin. If you like 'em larger thats great, but skewing the scale in the opposite of conventional taste is still skewing the scale. I'd much rather the fine folks here concentrate on the quality of the sets than worry about the size of the model.

I think SG has too many varying body types and I want to see more and only really skinny girls.

It's hard to tell from a photo set with only one person in it how big someone is. what do you consider big?

should SG go out and recruit big girls? how would you propose they go about fixing this 'skew' that you see?

yes queen latifah is hotter than fish grease but I'ma have to disagree with your saying she wouldn't fit in here if this was her vibe. I'm a thick brown skinned girl, 5'8" 175 or so, and the staff and a few of the SGs themselves have encouraged me to apply. they've made me feel great. so I am 100% positive that SG encourages diversity in race/color and size...and I think we've already seen that reflected...it will only get better :]

I don't think that any of the girls on this site are "big." I've read a lot of the other threads about this and some of the girls have come out saying they think they are big, but I know that the majority of girls in America feel they are fat even if they weigh 120lbs. It's hard for girls in this country to feel satisfied with their bodies when we are bombarded with images of waif-like supermodels everyday.

Just because some of the girls on this site might weigh a little more than others does not mean that they are "big" girls. I have never seen a fat roll on this site. (And I don't mean a little roll when a girl is sitting down, I mean an actual roll of fat) I've never seen cellulite on this site. I think that it would be great if the site put up larger girls but we all have to face reality and realize that that is just not what the mainstream ideal of beauty is. And until it is this site will probably not cater to it. Face it, skinny people run this site. Skinny people choose the girls. Until we have a fat girl choosing the models we will probably never see larger women. And by large I mean someone like Anna Nicole Smith or Queen Latifah (as mentioned earlier) not someone like Hel or Linz who are quite thin.

Please, I do not mean to offend Katie, Erin, Olivia, Missy and Sean. I love this site and think it is absolutely great. It's just that in every article I've read about this site the writer talks about how there are no fat girls and I agree. I also think it's really sad that a lot of the girls on this site feel like they are fat because they are all far from it.

Sorry if this makes anyone mad, that is not my intention at all. I just want to see some larger girls get the attention they deserve.

Actually I'm not going to flame you, I believe you're doing that to me. I respect what you have to say. I'm sorry if some things I said made you mad, I was just voicing my opinion. I agree that most fat girls would not be comfortable baring it all. I also agree that there is a size difference between some of the girls, but I would not go so far as to call any of you fat.

Everyone has their own opinion as to what is fat and what is not. You don't need to get all mad at me just because my opinion differs from yours.

I don't think that rolls of fat or cellulite would be pleasing to look at either. That's just what I think of when I think of "fat."

I called Hel and Linz thin because to me they are. From the pictures I've seen all of you look skinnier than me and I really don't think I'm *that* fat. I don't have rolls hanging all over the place or anything but I've got quite the huge ass. I just always think of fat as being more like Anna Nicole Smith and Queen Latifah like I mentioned earlier. I do admit that these girls are bigger than a lot of the girls on this site but I don't think there is anything wrong with them. Every girl you mentioned is beautiful and I just think it's sad that they think they're fat.

I lost a lot of weight after high school and have finally gotten to be a little happy with my body. I still think I've got a long way to go before I get to be completely satisfied but whatever. I just get really sad when I hear beautiful girls saying they think they are big when they look so good to me. I guess I have just been programmed to believe that fat equals ugly like so many other Americans.

I don't know, I'm just extremely touchy about the weight thing. I think it would be great if somewhere some fat girls could be portrayed as beautiful because they never really are. This probably isn't the site that will do that and that's fine. I like that there are "bigger" girls on this site, it's refreshing. I just hope that none of you think you are fat cause you're not. You might be bigger than some girls here but you're still beautiful to me.

i don't know anyone who doesn't want to look good. people are going to choose the poses and outfits that flatter themselves the most. my current weight is an estimated 160-180 pounds, give or take, yet you can look through the thousands of my pictures on my site and not even be able to notice it. sometimes photoshop plays a part in it, sometimes it's the right angle. and i've had people go so far as to accuse me of being in denial that i'm an average size, which may be bullshit flattery, but honestly it's irritating as hell. i'm right there with the girls who are put on by society every day, thinking they're too overweight, and then come here to be told they're too thin. it's almost insulting, because unless you've been in our position, you don't know what it's like to take the time to come to terms with your body to the point where you're comfortable enough to broadcast it over the internet like this.

now i'm definitely plush, but given the right (accepting) atmosphere, i would have no problem with baring it all. i'm certainly no queen latifah, who is gorgeous in her own right, but i definitely think i fit the bill when it comes to being a plus-sized girl.
when it comes down to it, if and when i decide to apply to this site, they're not going to reject me because i'm a little plump, and they're certainly not going to accept me soley for being a little plump. it's all about fitting the criteria, and if you've got it you've got it, and if you don't- well theres not enough sit ups in the world that could fix that.

I'm 5'4 and weigh between 120 and 130, and I'm still heavier than most girls in mainstream media. And there are plenty of girls on this site that are bigger than I am. And yes, they are all fucking gorgeous, and I'm sick and tired of hearing about how all the girls are thin. Not to mention, there is nothing WRONG with being thin! Are you going to tell Edea, for example, that there's something wrong with her body type? I'm not going to hate her because she's thinner than I am, she's gorgeous. How many fat rolls and how much cellulite do you want to see before you people will be satisfied?
