I tried reading through the pages and pages of new profile design comments but it gets so repetitive and I don't really learn much.

How would you layout your profile? Draw it on a napkin, make a wire frame outline, photoshop your current one?

I have no idea if the staff would find his useful or helpful but I personally would like to see what users think s most important or usefull.

That should mean you learn something very obvious. That tells you most people want the same thing? wink Honestly, like it was before was OK. Profile stuff down the left, blog on right. I would prefer my full friends list instead of the top five like it was before the revamp, but I think arguing for that is a lost cause.

Seriously, I was fine with it the way it was when I went to bed last night. The less clutter, the better.

But I'll scan up an ideal picture after work. smile

I'd like the front page of my profile to be things that I've chosen to say/show about myself rather than others' quotes about me (including the website's)

Again... try reading through 15 pages where people say... "I hate it. I liked it before." I was a ui and interaction designer as well as a usability expert for years. What I learned is that 20 people can say the same thing and that can have 20 different meanings. Having these people illustrate what they were trying to describe focused what they were trying to convey. Secondly, many people say they want something but don't understand what that would actually look like... example, if you'd prefer your full friend's list, show us how'd you'd present it.

Honestly, as someone who isn't very computer savvy, the way it was before was just dandy.
As it is now, it looks like a cluttered, unorganized and poorly thought out design. Having that info jammed into that little space and having to click tabs to read a profile, it's more time consuming than just having it all lined up simply on the side like it was before.

I read all 20 pages and pretty much everyone said "we prefer it the way it was before" so that's fairly unanimous as far as I'm concerned. smile

As for the friends list - photos would be utterly impractical, so like it was before the big switch-over; a table of friends nameslinked to their profiles, five wide by however many deep, with the birthday balloon appearing where necessary.

I'd like it to go back to the last version. No character limits for favourites. No fucking top ten lists. No testimonials on front page. Optional dating profile.

1) Large area for my "blog." It should be, by far, the biggest thing on my profile.
2) I don't need the blurb section where I write a one-sentence description or funny quote. I didn't hate it before, but I didn't mind it either.
3) Decent sized sidebar where I can list my interests (fav movies, books, etc)
4) Everything else can be tabbed, including friends, favorites, groups, comments, testimonials.

I really can't draw at all... Here's my wishlist:

Ok, I started typing it out, and it's basically that I want it back the way it was, but with an expandable text only list of my friends above my journal entry.

Thanks for asking, Tuffy.

Just change it back. It was okay before. It left enough space for users to play with it and to make it their own. The priorities of what showed and what didn't were okay. Maybe not perfect, but okay. Now it's just fucked.

None of the changes make any sense. And I really mean none and any.

That is totally useless feedback.... every design change on this site gets that criticism -- I hate it. I liked the last one. You say people prefer the last design but then go on to criticize that design.

Yup. Why does there have to be a change at all, especially if it's, design-wise, just not as good as it was before? If there was going to be a change in profiles it could at least look good.

except for the fact that EVERY time the site changes...it is met with page after page and thread after thread of "OMG!!!1111 This SUXX!!!1111 Change it back!!!!!11111 Sinking Ship!!!11111"

The fact that there is a significant number of people who simply do not like change does NOT mean that the decision is anywhere near unanimous. I guarantee that after having expwerienced the current incarnation of the site....99.9% of the current members would fucking open their wrists if the site went back to V1.0

Sidenote to Staff:

This current change is not significant enough for me to care...which means...if ti works for you...it works for me. My personal profile is not really that important in the grand scheme of things. I think it looks just fine.

Thanks for the interest. I liked the was it prior to this change..the sex tab really, as stated already could be an option. This feel is just lest personal, and slightly more mechanical.

I'm still trying to figure why the hell this change was made at all. The last one I could grasp, I didn't like all of it but I got used to it and I even loved the little blurb box and other things. But why another change now? And one that's obviously very badly thought through. I don't get it. At all.

err, yeah, like it was before!!!

i don;t understand why you'd want to put testimonials on the front page for everyone to see, and make the stuff thats interesting (or not) about you hidden.

the first thing i look at when finding new members is their profile list, not their testimonials. which if its a new member, they wouldn't have any anyway.

but at least you could see what shit bands and movies they liked. wink
