Hi, everyone. Like a lot of you, I read the boards quite a bit. There's some good stuff here, and I've been reading them for a while (and probably irritating some of you with some of the shit that I say).

However. Here's something I've noticed, and I don't know if it can be changed, but I thought it was a good idea, so I'm speaking up. When I see a thread that starts with "NEWS:", I click on it, because hey, news article. And while it's something submitted to the news wire, it's not always a news article. With me so far? Sometimes it's news, sometimes it's commentary, sometimes it's a feature, and sometimes it's rumor. So why not have those things in the thread title instead of the generic "NEWS:"? I think this would eliminate a lot of the confusion when people type shit like, "ZOMG how is this NEWZZ?!11", or "This belongs in your journal". It would give morons a little less leverage when they respond to something inflammatory they think is news when it's actually commentary. Plus, and I know I can't be alone here, I don't click the link that says "News" at the top- I click the one that says "Boards".

Did this make any kind of sense at all? I hope it did. Anyway, I just thought this would help alleviate some of the confusion regarding news articles. Thanks, all.

I hear ya, it's something I'd been meaning to say for a while now, but I finally remembered it after reading FearTheReaper's article about anuses.

won't reducing confusion screw with your hobby?

No- if someone's truly a moron, it won't matter how easy things are around here. They'll still find a way to be a shithead. Really, that's just how the world works. No matter how many warning labels you stick on something, some idiot's still gonna drink it, use it to cut his hedges, or shove it in his rectum and lie to the EMT's that come to his house. I think my hobby of beating people with the stupid stick will remain intact.

And it is something that I, at least, am very thankful for. As long as you aren't beating me with it.

edit: decent idea as well. pip pip. or something.

No, you seem like a reasonable, rational, intelligent person to me. Like I've said before, I save my cruel insights for idiots, creeps and whiners. I don't hate on people just to be a dick. If I'm giving you a hard time, it's because I know you can do better.

Really though, this has kinda veered off topic. Anyway, I just thought it'd be a good idea to have some clarification in news thread titles.

I really like this idea.

Some of the stuff on the news wire is fantastic.
