Anyway, I wanted to tune into SG Radio last night, and I was all excited, and when it finally came on, I didn't hear anything. I am making a thread about this for two reasons: Number One, there is absolutely zero help in either the FAQ or the help section addressing the radio flash player; Number Two, in case anyone else in the future has a problem of the same nature, and come to find out five minutes before the show starts that they are having technical difficulties, instead of e-mailing tech support and waiting a day for a response, hopefully they can resolve their issue here; I searched and didn't find anything.
At any rate, I'm pretty computer savvy, I run a pretty lean system and have a pretty good defense against spyware, viruses, ad-ware and any other malware. My configuration is pretty simple, and I pretty much know everything that goes on inside my box. I'm throwing these things out here to eliminate any anomolies that might be the cause of the problem (i.e., ActiveX controls or firewall problems).
I'm running XPSP2 with Firefox v.1.5 with Flash v.9,0,16,0.When I start the radio applet,
the circled icon just sits there and spins and spins, yet I don't hear anything. OK, I check all my settings; my sound settings, connection settings, and so on and so forth. Ok, so I do this: I quit FF, download Quicktime & iTunes, install it and open Explorer 6.0. I click on the flash player again, and what comes up is the same radio applet, except now it's the Quicktime version. The same thing happens; no sound. So I decide to try some live streaming radio stations in Windows Media. No problem there.
So that's the gist of it. After that I uninstalled Quicktime because, well I just hate Quicktime, and obviously it's not the flash player that's causing the problem. Haven't messed with it since.
I did bring this up briefly in the SG Radio thread last night, and I got two suggestions. The first suggestion was that I had to listen to SG Radio with iTunes. This is true if you want to listen to an archived broadcast, but not the live feed. The second suggestion was to go to Indie's site, which I did, but there was nothing even remotely discussing this issue, and the only mention of SG is a redirect that bounces you back to the SG site here to the flash player on the radio page.
So that's where I'm at. It's probably something relatively minor, but who knows.

Indie's web site has a live radio player. It doesn't say anything specifically about SG on it, it's just a player that plays what is on the radio at that moment, and during the SG Radio show, that's what's playing there.
Incidentally, we use the same stream, so if you open the "SG Radio player" now, you'll actually be hearing Indie's current broadcast. This also means that if the stream is down on Indie's site, it'll be down on our site too. If it works on their site and not ours, there might be something we can do to fix it, but if they're both down, there's nothing we can do.
OK, duh. I didn't look hard enough on Indie's site to notice the "Listen Live" icon. It's hidden in there pretty well. I was going to "Suicide Girls" under the "Shows" menu, and the only thing that comes up is a "Visit Site" link.
Thanks, my good man. You rock!
A couple more things: I tried tuning in to Indie via Media Player, but it didn't pick up the station. I was under the impression at some point that it was a private feed. You also said that if I launch the Indie's flash player I should hear it from SG's player; lol I can't tell, the only thing I can do is adjust the volume slider on the SG player, but that doesn't seem to have any bearing; but the point is moot because problem solved!
The only gripe I have about it is that it seems to cut out occasionally; someone was bitching about this last night. What are they streaming this at? 64k?
btw, Henry Rollins on 8-10 Tuesday night. Bitchin.
I have noticed that SG's radio player does not work very often. I don't think I've ever listened to a show on the SG player. I always go to Indie's site. I thought maybe it was just my crappy computer, but perhaps not.

Once upon a time (before the site upgrade), SG's player worked. Lately, though it hasn't. I've gotten out of the habit of even trying -- I just use the Indie 103 site. Even have it bookmarked.
So... I figure the podcasts lag on release after the show because they cut the commercials out and stuff but i noticed that there hasn't been a new podcast in a month... and i was also wondering.. considering I'm on the east coast (you know how us Floridians are.. only thinking of ourselves).. whether its running on pacific time being the 12 am.. you know.. some of us do stay up till 3 am on Sundays. but i don't like to wait till 12 thinking something is going to be running and nothing coming on..... lol...
