Robert Novak is dead.

Robert D. Novak, the pugnacious political columnist and cable television fixture whose scoops reached across five decades and whose nickname, “the prince of darkness,” was invoked with renewed fervor in 2003 when, acting on a tip, he revealed the name of a C.I.A. officer, setting the stage for a criminal investigation, died Tuesday morning at his home in northwest Washington. He was 78.

If anyone has anything kind to say, feel free. I, personally, can't think of anything off the top of my head.

Crap, I was going to say that he will be decaying and fertilizer helps plants grow...but then I remembered that caskets are typically sealed in concrete or whatever so they don't collapse.

I got nothin'.

He was an influential columnist but without Evans he was like a rabid pit-bull (sorry pit-bull lovers) in a nursery.

Satan's day just got worse.

A positive comments about Novak as a person... How about Stalin, Hitler, and Pol Pot were worse? It's the best I could do on such short notice.

Edit: OOOOOOHHHHH! OOOOOOHHHHH! OOOOOOHHHHH! Robert Novak was a Catholic like Mother Teresa. If you want to get technical Novak was nothing like Mother Teresa so how about Novak and Mother Teresa were both Catholic?

I am trying I am really trying but this is a difficult assignment. Maybe I will stick with he never committed genocide.

From the same-- surprisingly flattering-- New York Times piece originally linked:

Among the column’s scoops was a 1978 interview with Deng Xiaoping, which carried a conciliatory message to the United States. Some say the overture helped pave the way for the resumption of diplomatic relations with China the following year.

The best I can add is that he was an interesting character. Of course, while saying 'interesting' you have to sort of turn the corners of your mouth down into a small, but firm, frown.

I hope someone tossed some garlic and holy water in his coffin, otherwise he's just going to rise from the grave tonight, thirsty for human blood.

Fuax News declared him " one of a kind ".
Which I think is a nice thing to say, and also provides me with some relief.

I did rather enjoyed watching him get pwned by Frank Zappa.

And to his credit, he still manages to come off as slightly less of a douchebag than John Lofton.

I really have to give the NYT's credit for their write-up considering Novak took a pass & revealed his sources while one of their reporters spent 85 days in a lock-up for refusing to do the same.

Of course, they also quote Tucker Carlson on how influential Novak was. There's a backhanded compliment if ever I heard one: 'Oh, Tucker Carlson loves this guy. He must be a complete jackass, Carlson doesn't go halfway on that kind of thing.'

Did you notice how it seemed as if God kicked sand in Lofton's eyes every time had said something, he was blinking so furiously?

Zappa was great! Novak looked like the undead at 55 'cause he was/is.

Well, I am checking SG whist working so I'm not in a creative enough mood to create a thread for it. I'm in that repetitive zone thingie making cuts. Fun.

Dude...you could totally do it. For serious.

On a serious note, I guess I was just curious as to what some of the regs in there would post about it. I could use a "tee hee" now and again.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
And fuck you... yes I laugh like that. I get it from my mom's side.

I wasn't the only one thinking of The People v. Larry Flynt & how retarded all the conservatives looked in their too-small-three-pieces frothing at the mouth about this horrible threat that is in no way being forced upon them by anyone, was I?

Oh. Apparently I was. What can I say? Larry Flynt's a personal hero.
