17% voted last election, 17% voted this election. Where's the 21 million registered young voters not counted in polls?

Same with the black vote, no change in turnout percentage-wise.

CNN does say though that the religious right voted in record numbers, thanks to Karl Rove's planning.

The help america vote act or whatever the fuck it is (hinder america vote?) is causing some problems for new voters.. It requires you to send in ID and proof of your current address.. Some talk, at least in Oregon that I know of, with setting aside and holding off counting voters who registered by mail this year.. I think it has been taken care of here, but I don't know about elsewhere. And I know for a fact there is some confusion, because even if you don't send in the ID, you get your ballot.. I think a lot of people assume that since they got they're ballot, they're good to go.

the youth vote did turn out. but so did everyone else. the percentages were all the same but the total numbers were higher for each category.

i voted kerry.

i hate Karl Rove and religious people. i'm really starting to hate americans in general. our president is a moron, our economy is in shambles, our civil liberties are being chipped away by the people sworn to protect them. and yet fifty one percent of the population (votes counted so far) voted for the motherfucker.

it's true americans are really THAT stupid.

go fuck yourself mr bush.

That's the conclusion everyone seems to be coming to, but I still hear that the turnouts expected for young and black voters isn't what they thought it would be. I'm not claiming there's any one particular reason for this, just rather deflating after all the hype.

Most of them thought it would be "cool" to "register to vote" at the Curioso Festival. You know man, all their friends did it!

Yesterday, when it came time to vote?

I'm so wasted!!

I'm just glad that I didn't say this. I would have gotten warned (again) or something. Now don't get me wrong, everything you wrote I agree with and hate George Bush more than you would ever believe, but I'm just glad I didn't write that.

i really think you guys are underestimating the youth vote.

at penn state, 300 people voted in the last election. 300.

this year, there was a line when i went at 9:00. i was the 82nd person to vote from my area. (note: we have five different "areas" of campus and each is a different precinct.) at 7:00 i walked my girlfriend over to get in line. she didn't get back until after 9, because so many people were in line that it took her two hours to vote, and the lines were still really long when she left.

we were there. don't say that we weren't.

edited because i said 'you guts' instead of 'you guys.'

Why were the lines so long?

That should be a central issue, 4 billion was spent on campaigning, yet there seems to have been such a shortage of election booths and officials that some people reportedly queued 15 hours to eventually be given only provisional votes...

What the fuck happened?

And who benefited?

Is that a heavy burden for you to bear? This is the second thread I've seen you mention it.
