Star Spanish Banner

Not Quite sure about this one, I think this might be going a bit to far but that is just my opinion.

What do you all think?

Does the national anthem really mean that much to anyone? I mean, maybe people in the olympics like it but other than that, I don't know. I really don't know anyone who would be bothered by this. I wouldn't be bothered of they got rid of that stupid song all together.

The focus on things like songs and flags and magnetic ribbons and everything else similar in this country scares me.

"Would the French accept people singing the La Marseillaise in English as a sign of French patriotism? Of course not," said Mark Krikorian, head of the Washington-based Center for Immigration Studies, a think tank that supports tighter immigration controls.

Got a point but do we want to really be like the French?

Yeah but that is because they have two offical languages.

The US has none so there isn't anything really wrong with singing it in Spanish.

I don't care if they sing it in Klingon so long as they are legal immigrants.

I find it amusing that two groups of people are arguing over the use & validity of languages that are named after countries/empires other than their own (countries/empires they were glad to be rid of, if I remember my history correctly).

Bush doesn't like it. CNN cut the feed before we got to hear the reason. My money is on it being some sort of phoney "because it's different" argument.

America doensn't have any official Language, so I don't see what the problem is. Hell, let's translate it into every language. I want to hear the Star-Spangled Banner in Basgue and Tagalog.

No one knows the words in both languages and that's how its almost always played now, so inevitably there's a mumble bit.

Rocking? Really? I've never heard anyone say anything positive about it at all. Seriously. Ever.

I like "Oh, Canada."

I can't believe there are (or already were?) actual protests over this. It's not like the music wasn't stolen from an English drinking song anyway. We really are taking the xenophobia up a notch, aren't we.

Well, compared to our anthem (which is extremely difficult to sing and is just frankly a bit punchless), I like it lots.

I still remember my little elementary school peers being ashamed that we didn't get to sing The Star Spangled Banner....

It's not that hard to sing and frankly i still get chills when i'm at a sporting event and hear it sung.

Frankly, I think anyone who's not DAR-eligible should be sent back to wherever they came from, post-haste.
