Can you weed out the bad seeds in your religion or culture?

Have their been times when you or others may have tried and failed?

Would an outsider even know if you have made the effort?

My answers to the above would be:

No, I can try but I can't completely eliminate them. Hell I am not even sure I can make a dent.

Yes. I and others have tried. We have not had much luck. But we keep trying.

Nobody has really noticed my efforts so far. Except for some of those
within my culture.

all capital letters is the typing equivalent of yelling. you use all caps when you want to emphasize a single word or phrase. but since we have bold and italic here on SG you don't actually ever have to use it except for humor purposes.

ps spelling and making coherent sentences help people take you seriously as well.

It amazes me how people can expect common, nonviolent Muslims to weed out and stop the extremists and suicide bombers when our powerful government with its weapons and intelligence can't even stop them (at least not enough to prevent 9/11 and 7/7). And as for having non-extremist Muslims publicly denounce these acts, what would that even accomplish? Give people the benefit of the doubt when it comes to whether or not they support acts of terrorism and violence. Or do we need them to say they're against the terrorists so we can make a list of which brownskinned people not to fuck up?

Well, there are plenty of people who think communists (who murdered many times more people than Hitler ever did) are just a "boogeyman." Maoists in Central Asia were called that in one of these threads just two weeks or so ago. Plenty of denial going around.

are not only supported by the Ummah but the British welfare system as well, dont expect anything different in the years to come.

If vigilante justice is unappealling to you, then stave it off by dealing with the problem. Throw the radicals out. Dont subsidize them. Spy and watch their every move and communication. If they complain, tell them them to return to Pakistan where they will feel more at home.

Before you sign up for the White League there night rider, I think you should know that the concept of vigilante justice implies going after people who have actually, you know, done something. Attacking people because they, like a billion other people, have something in common with a handful of people you don't like is neither vigilant, nor just, its just racist. I also don't think that Bangladeshis would feel especially at home in Pakistan it being further from their "home" than you are from Russia.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but are you actually advocating the formation of a police state, stockula? Sure, it would be nice to identify all the radicals and potential threats, put them under surveillance, and kick them out.

How exactly is this to be accomplished? Ah yes - their ethnicity gives them away.

But why stop there? White, black, Christian, Muslim, Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians. They could all be potential threats. We'd better just watch everyone.

National Front Marches.

Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police and officers in the Football Intelligence Unit were yesterday studying websites run by far-right groups for any signs that violence against Muslims and their property was being orchestrated.

Gerry Gable, publisher of the anti-fascist magazine Searchlight, claimed he had seen names and phone numbers of Asian people published on a far-right website with paramilitary links, along with the suggestion they should be "paid a visit". Mr Gable said: "It only takes one psycho looking at these things to decide to go and take matters into his own hands."

One concern is that football fans across Britain with far-right links might ditch traditional team rivalries to turn on Asian people when their teams play.

Policing around the Leeds-Millwall game, which takes place at Leeds' Elland Road ground on 7 August, is likely to be particularly intense. While both clubs have done their utmost to shed fans with racist sympathies, the setting of the game in Leeds could provide a cue for extremist violence.

Millwall ("No one likes us, we don't care", "come and have a go if you think you're hard enough") have a scary history of football thuggery. Leeds is the hometown of some of the Bombers.[1] Football thugs have a long history of right wing extremism, with links to Combat-18, the National Front, etc.

People die every year as a result of soccer violence. Many people are injured as a result of soccer violence. Often (but not always) these people are part of gangs fighting each other. If they combine and attack innocent people things are going to be 'not so good.'. frown frown

Random people including, but not limited to, Muslims. Sikhs and Hindus have been attacked too.

With regards the Muslim community doing more to weed out the 'Radicals', the Met's Chief Commisioner and the head of the Muslim Council have pretty much said the same thing. A "friend" of one of the bombers who reported him after the attacks was on the news the other night and said he was aware of his radical views, I'd guess that there are a lot of people who are happy to have it known they have radical views and the people around them have accepted it. Maybe now they will question it and maybe now they will try to cooperate with the Police/Security Services. The Muslim community in Britain have already come out and condemned the attacks as strongly as they can publicly (which is nothing new as they have always publicly condemned such violence), saying now that the bombers are not 'Martyrs', but they have also admitted that they need to look inwards at their own community to see what can be done to stop the radicalisation of their children.

this is so cute. i started this thread happy coz i actually agreed withy you on something. but you have to let the commie thing go. nobody denied the millions of murders attributable to communist regimes of the past. i only suggested that making a direct comparison to those situations and that in nepal today was perhaps showing a lack of total understanding of the situation in nepal (or at least a tendency to uncritically support one side of a civil war in a kneejerk kind of way for questionable ideological reasons). i'm pretty sure you understood my point (because i doubt you could be so dense as to not). i was, however, confused by your need to pluck bits of my posts out of context in order to respond. not usually a sign of someone with a serious argument to make...

OMG, these Terrorists used CHEMISTRY to MAKE bombs so clearly all chemists are EVIL!!!1!

Chemists are part of today's society, but they have to accept that some of them have unacceptable views. Chemists should look within themsleves and root out the extremists. Chemists need ot discover the reasons why chemistry produces extremists.

I don't support the government of Nepal. It's a rotting maggot. Give me a break! I never said anything to imply otherwise in that thread or anywhere else, ever. I'm just always surprised when I see someone refer to communists as a "boogeyman" when they're actively killing people and inspired by a man who killed tens of millions.

Show me some liberal opposition to the Nepalese government and I'll respond quite differently, I assure you.
