I explained what I meant by that. It's something I've known and been saying for years, that if the market and entrepreneurs are given free hand to operate and innovate, they'll find a way to get energy to the market, because it'll make them rich. Besides, what if I told you known reserves of petroleum keeps climbing as time goes on? That there's way more oil around the world than we thought existed in 1980?

If Peak Oil is something that bothers you, you're fretting over nothing.

I've never heard anyone else point this out (but I don't get out much), seems to me that because the Romans occupied England and the English occupied/occupy North America, did the Roman Empire ever really "decline"? To all you history buffs out there, doesn't all this seem like Business As Usual?

Well see I have this parallel theory that just because the Germans were "defeated" in World War ll doesn't mean Fascism ended. If you consider it ideologically . . . the "spirit" of Rome is still very much alive . . . ?

Good god... lets look at a world map from 1902 and see where British occupation WAS, and where it is NOW.... over reaching? Perhaps... are the States over reaching, probably, most definitely... Do either of any of us on this forum have any say in what really happens in government: NO.

So lets not finger point... I hate this every time I go to England, it's as if I'm the Trustee of Guantanamo Bay comming to round up the peasants for a good flogging... I have fuck-all to do with what my government does, and it's mostly true that a greater percentage of North Americans are apathetic and feel likewise, that they have no control in their government.

Is the spirit of Rome alive now? Yes, absolutely...I don't think there has been much of a decline since the 1600's...But was there a decline of Rome? Most certainly...due to corruption of govt, unloyal army, drought, famine, and most importantly the bubonic plague...Romes' population went from something like 1 million down to 10,000...a large portion of it's citizens moved to avignon and there was a complete loss of the central govt-it went to a barter economy...I think it would be impossible to see that as anything but a 'decline'... bok
