I know tons of you site here every day and bash the president, the war, and nearly anything you can that isnt democratic. I as well sit and counter point your arguments, but I am no poet, historian, or politician. Im just someone who has been there and seen what is really going on and I have only seen a bit.

Right now this link is being passed around. If you want to see a blink of an eye in a soldiers life in Iraq check it out. It shows the good the bad, the sadness and joy of being there and coming home. Maybe it will round some edges because of lot of you think its Vietnam over there. Even the people coming back will disagree.

Untill Then

For the soldiers not coming home, and the families that miss them, the media isnt showing the whole story by any streach of the imagination. For my friends still over, and the ones returning.

that company is a conservative company, that is very outward about their support for the War.

looks like they're not giving the full story either in these pictures.

those are some beautifull pics, but come on, the states can't get all angelic now, there is history and all. I have nothing but good wishes for each and every soldier over there, I hope they all come home safe, but I really dont agree with the situation. I know someone will say Im a canadian and therefore don't have the right to an opinion, but these shots remind me of lots I've seen from Vietnam, there is always two sides to a story, the media has never been good with that, to either extreme.

Wow. More pro-war propaganda. They seem to have left out pictures of the thousands of Iraqi citizens who are not terrorists or Ba'athists who have been killed or maimed as a result of the US invasion. Clearly a thorough pictorial investigation of the consequences of the war.

So a bunch of photos is going to do what exactly? I could show you a bunch of photos of dead Iraqi kids if we're going down that road.

A bunch of pretty Photo-Op pictures isn't going to change my mind or anyone else's that GWB and his cabal are a bunch of fucking idiots that has this country embroiled in a gigantic expensive mess with no end in sight.

Then again, morons like you believe that this is all about fighting the war on terrorism , that we are creating more of on a daily basis .

Or was it about WMD's ?

Or freeing the Iraqi people ?

what a load of horseshit.

I completely agree I dont think this is the total truth either, but on here its a very one sided debate and I think a little of the other side might bring some rationality back. Although from most of the above posts I doubt it.

AND WHO THE FUCK OWNS NEARLY EVERY DAMN MAJOR NEWS MEDIA? Tell me is it the republicans? Right it must be. So your telling me that the soliders coming home and the photos are just Micheal Moore style propaganda?

This was not to get you to support or love the war. It is not a cry for you to change your ways. I posted this because obviously the one sided media isnt showing that. It also doesnt show the full extent of death in war. However when was the last time you saw the media show people supporting the troops?

As for the replys. Right away I see that many of you will continue to just believe what you will without realizeing there is more going on here.

One doesn't cancel out the other.

You could have photos of US military personnel dancing through corn fields with feather boas on, eating delicious Italian food and listening to U2, and it wouldn't make photos of dead Iraqi kids any more bearable.

You could have photos of Iraqis jumping up and down with glee in their eyes, giggling with lusty delight at the magic of democracy, and it wouldn't make photos of dead US soldiers any nicer.

And you could have a bunch of photos of US troops backlit by a setting sun, and it would be a deplorable exercise in photographic wankery.

Anton your right, but I think many of you forget there arent dead kids all over Iraq.

It happens but not all the time. The biggest problem I have is peoples remarks like, TheIRisHBaSTarD. Obviously he hasnt been there, and obviously his opinion is so skewed as to make statment like that.

The video was not to downplay anything but to show people like, TheIRisHBaSTarD that there are truely two sides and currently one is being down played like poka at a rock concert.

Well, think about it. Are all things equal? For example, do 5 kids who greet a soldier happily and get some candy outweigh even one kid who was "collateral damage"? Do 500? Does the fact that most soldiers there are still alive and in one piece make up for the thousands who aren't? They shouldn't be there in the first place!

Every god damned day I see a report on TV news or in a newspaper fawning over the soldiers and showing people supporting the troops. Have you even looked at a media outlet recently?

Here are some examples:

From Georgia

From Oregon

From the CS Monitor

From the Business news wire

From New Jersey

And the only reason the major outlets have stopped stories like this (though they still seem to make it into the "human interest" section of every Fox news broadcast) is that they're considered old news, when the war first started it was impossible to avoid these kinds of reports, and anything criticizing the military was anathema. WHat more do you want?

HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA. This is some really awesome "War is Good" propaganda. I was watching the soft-focus, oh-so-uplifting slideshow, and wondering, "Where's the glorifying, inspirational soundtrack to this tripe?"

Then I realized that I had my sound turned off.

If you totally deny the possibility of any truth other than your own, then you automatically cut off any possibility to reach a common ground with anyone who disagrees with you.

Are you saying that 'dead Iraqi children' aren't in your version of 'the truth'?

But what do you honestly expect us liberal, left-wing geeks to learn from this hastily put-together exhibit of militaristic pride? Great! It turns out Iraq has soldiers looking proud and romanticised, standing around while the sun sets on another day of fighting the good fight.

I haven't been to Iraq - and I haven't spent a day in combat - but I'm willing to hazard a guess that most soldiers in Iraq don't feel like their days are spent listening to choral music, looking introspectively to the sky, hoping for answers, their guns gripped by hands that have touched a nation of people who are now free.

If I were a soldier, I'd be offended by such a mawkish wankfest, in which my efforts to 'bring democracy to a nation' are belittled to nothing more than a bunch of faceless guys self-consciously posing in a movie made by Hallmark.

Yeah, choir music for war pics is really over the top IMHO. Kinda reminded me of "ride of the valkyries" in Apocalypse Now - so exessive and obvious it becomes a parody of itself.
