My point was mainly "Hey, lookit this interesting article." but also yet another response to the "Christian nation" nonsense GW and many of his supporters spew.

Obnoxious attention seeking with controversial threads merely for attention's sake.

Actually, I think attention-seeking trolls (Trollus Lookatus) are the lesser of the species. The worse type is the just-to-piss-people-off troll, or Trollus Godwinus.

The Trollus Godwinus is a subspecies. They ALL seek attention. Some of them just don't care whether it's GOOD or BAD attention. tongue

So many people are misinformed about the religious intent/beliefs of our founding fathers. I am tired of hearing the devout spouting religious assumptions in regards to our founding fathers particularly when they want to push their religious views into government and law making.

Normall I would say "amen to that" but it seems rather foolish in this context...so I'll say "I agree with you".

While I don't share the same revulsion for organized religion that others around here possess...I will say that there is absolutely no place for organized religion in our government. None. Zero. Nichts, nein, hell no.

It's a basic problem...if you're religious, your priority is God. If you're a politician, your priority is your constituency. That's not to say that religious people cannot separate the two...it just offeres an inherent conflict.

I look forward to a time when the religions of today are referenced in the same context as Greek myths.

I heard a story on NPR the other day about a church minister or theological scholar or something like that who is very politically active and has been for many years, but has always been very vocal about the necessity of separating the two. Your first sentence here reminds me of something he said. Alas, I was on my way to the store, and didn't catch his name or any other details. I just felt this was a good opportunity to point out that there are even people who hold religious office as well as political office and still maintain the ability to separate them.

But you're absolutely right, there's an inherent conflict of interest there that most people have a hard time reconciling.
