I Salute You....

Thank you for your unwavering dedication, commitment and courage in defending our nation.

You left your family, your friends, and your hart behind to protect your nation a world away.

You make sacrifices that many of us will never know or will fully understand, and there are no words to adequately express my gratitude.

I look forward to the day I can say Welcome Home!.. Job Well Done!

I got done reading the post on this board about the SG member who died in Iraq, and wanted to say thank you to everyone who posted there. I'm a soldier who's going on his 12th month stationed in Iraq, and it's been causing some wear and tear latety.

The depth of emotion and support surrounding his tragic death is really touching to someone who's been there and has ended up feeling cynical about the ability of anyone who hasn't to understand what it means when a soldier dies over here. Those on the left crow over dead US soldiers as proof of the Iraqi's power to resist, and people on the right cry crocodile tears and try to trade political capital on the tragic deaths of young men and women they could give a damn about otherwise. Here all I saw was a heartfelt outpouring of support and the recognition that a young man who could have been any of our brother's or son's died too young.

The Internet seems to be a breeding ground for bombast and bullshit from marginal personalities, but SG is different. I know I can always rely on the kindness, good humor and variety of opinions and expression to pick me up, no matter what else has gone on during the day. Thank you all for making this place so special.

Good luck and come home safe.

Sometimes the right and the left speak with one voice around here.

Welcome to SG. Hope your time in Iraq is short and safe.

redandblack's post reminded me of a post worth reading in the thread about Wolfmoon89 being killed in Iraq:

Wow man, that was quite a first post.

Please take care of yourself, and watch your buddies' backs. I've lost too many friends over there already, and I shudder to think of the guys who I'll never get to meet and make friends with now. Thank you, may you all come home safe, and soon.

I don't know if you knew this already or not(being as you've been a member awhile, but that was your first post)

Any member stationed in Iraq can get a free item of sg clothing, just send me an email with what you want, the size and where it should be shipped to and I'll send it to you with a couple dozen stickers and 10 decks of cards to give or trade to friends. We sent out a package to Abu Ghraib last week. This goes for Brits too.

Take him up on it. You can spread the word about SG and maybe lift some spirits(including your own)

Come home safe.

I--with my students--have been sending things through anysoldier...is there any way we can get stuff to you directly? Let us know what you need, even if it is just a good word or pictures of beautiful women...oh, wait...you have this through SG. smile Okay, anything else other than beautiful women? Be safe.
