It turned out to be a really awesome change of pace. Out of fucking nowhere, someone responds to the thread title. I actually chuckled, and I almost NEVER laugh aloud at all when I'm reading, even when I think something is funny.

Social Security is in dire straits and does need immediate attention. Actually it needed attention many years ago, but the politicians are too puss to do anything about it because they are more concerned about reelection than doing the right thing. When the baby boomers retire we are all fucked. They will have to make huge cuts in social security payouts, jack up the SS tax a whole bunch, or run up even more debt. And all of these options will piss off the public. If Bush was president when that decision came along, I am sure he would just increase the debt. That dumb fuck has been doing that for four years and will probably just continue.
iraq is a big mess that needs to be cleaned up. Social Security is a big mess that needs to be cleaned up. The federal budget/deficit is a huge mess that needs to be cleaned up. Bush sucks balls. I have no idea how that dumb bastard got reelected. But he is right about Social Security needing to be fixed.

Worst two term president ever...hands down. This fucking basket-case has distracted my country from the blunder that is Iraq by convincing them that Social Security is in 'dire straights' and needs immediate attention. I want to punch this motherfucker in the face. The top ten list of most oppressive dictators was released this week and the Saudi Prince was number four...does anyone give a shit that we're in bed with this fuck?
Actually every president that I can recall since the 80's have stated that social security is going to run out...this isnt something Goerge made up
because of him I'm not going back to the usa for at least another 4 years!
I spent my whole youth defending Americans in France and telling people that it really was a fantastic country with all wonderful people,
I now deny my Half "Americanness" and considering how much shit I went through to vote oversees I was expecting to get more than half of voting Americans to agree with me, unfortunately because of how manipulated everyone is by fox news and all that crap making you believe that we will all die tomorrow in the hands of angry heretics, that guns will save everyone, that all other countries are shit because hey! America is number 1!, that French people must ALL be stupid because they refused to participate in a retarded war, that God has superpowers to do things like protect the environment or give people proper health care which obviously the gvt won't do: some people actually think it was the right thing to vote for him!!!
tell me when you tell a child not to do something and he does it again, you give him a tap or you yell at him or whatever floats your boat, you don't just encourage him!!!
all right I'm done for the moment...fiouf it felt good...sorry if you feel offended but I'm pretty upset at 51% of voting Americans since last november...
I might get flamed for this but it's what I think...

I got over it.
so basically...
get over it.
Not for another 3 years and 10 months or so.
Guys like you are what make people like me vote for Cthulu every four years.
"guys like me"?
Guys who care deeply about the way this country is being driven into the ground, socially and financially?
Guys who promote tolerance, fiscal responsibility, sane foreign policy, energy conservation, sensible domestic policy and fair treatment for all?
Guys who believe in clean air, and the individuals right to privacy?
If you (not "you", specifically, Mrsatan) voted for Bush, you're going to have to live with lots of people taking him to task for everything he does that we feel damages the country.
Deal with it, because critics of the administration aren't going away and Bush is going to be around for a few more years.
Easy there, buttercheeks. I was humorously observing the back and forth between two people with opposing political viewpoints, neither of which I really share or agree with.
In other words, it was a joke, son. I still vote for Cthulu, though. Why settle for the lesser evil?

Sorry. I know it was meant to be tongue-in-cheek, but the whole Republican sore-winner phenomenon is really shameful.
Bush is doing a fine job, BuriedAlive. I was pretty surprised to hear Democrats deny that there's anything wrong with Social Security. There isn't, now. But as several people above have said, anyone capable of projecting out into the future will be able to see it's going to eventually be a massive burden, with the likely outcome of people NOT collecting Social Security after a lifetime of paying for others'. It's a giant Ponzi scheme. Is that fair? Is that responsible? Of course not, something should be done to make sure that doesn't happen. Who could be opposed to that?
Well, guess who? Shrill Democrats who hate the President with unbridled passion. They'll be god-damnned if they let him take credit for reforming Social Security and letting people be responsible for their own lives instead of depending on government plans.
They're out of power in all branches of government, and now their grip on the Fourth Estate of news media has slipped, too. They're making a faulty analogy of the Republican minority in congress in 1993-1994 and its opposition and obstruction of nationalizing health care, which resulted in a staggering election coup in 1994 when the Republicans won majority control of the Congress. Democrats stupidly, STUPIDLY think they can do the same thing with Social Security. It's just the latest chapter of the Democrats' mind-boggling cluelessness. They' think they'll make gains in 2006? They're gonna get hammered again, punished for being so petty, irresponsible, and partisan.

Oh, I know, man. I agree. I think you know that I'd be saying the same thing were the parties reversed, though.
